Squeaking in rear of JK
Hi guys, Im new to this forum stuff so thats why im posting here....
I have an 09 JK, ive never done offroading until last wknd when i went to Michigan. When I got there i did a 2.5" AEV sport lift. Jeep drove amazing I went off-roading the next day for my first time, got nice n muddy, drove a few hours with no noises. Pressure washed the jeep at the border, then drove back to Canada. A day or so after the wknd i have this horrid sound, almost like keys jiggling and scratching together. The sound is on and off, but mostly on. Rear of jeep. sounds like my driverside rear, but when i stick my head out the passenger and drive it could be that side as well?! Pressing the brakes will slightly disturb the sound, but it will still continue regardless of speed, braking or turning.
SO i have done my research.... Standing on the corner bumpers doesn't make the sound. Ive taken a screwdriver and picked at any stones in and around ALL joints. I took a compressor and finely blew out any dust and dirt from in and around the rear joints, brakes and such. I got a can of White Lithium Grease Lubricant and applied it to any of the joints at the rear. Still the sound continues. The only part i didnt apply any lube to was the drive shaft. ive inspected underneath the jeep thoroughly and everything looks good. Ive taken good care of my jeep through the years and never had a problem till mudding...
im debating taking the wheels off the back and inspecting further...??

|saf98tj||You will likely need to replace (or disassemble clean and relube) the centering ball on the cv joint and replace the front u joints. I had a similar issue. Read Stu's write up if you haven't already.|

|IronBearTJ||I replaced the 2 on the rear driveshaft, and hit the front ones with lithium spray to see if thats what was squeaking, it worked for mabe a mile|

I have a 2000 Wrangler Sport . Where the front shaft goes into the transfer case squeaks like hell, any ideas on what would cause this, or what it is? Im not much of a mechanic. Any help would be great thanks
