kramer2k I'm on the waiting list with Krawl Off-Road for the Teraflex Hi-Lift mount also. I have a 42" HL ready to go on. I was one of the guys that *had* to go with the shorter HL so I can fit in my garage.

do you have a t-50 torx socket (the same one that removes the stock hinge bolts) that fit perfectly... i ran into the same problem... probably just the powder coating on the bolts.

my t-50 is a snap-on socket... so it's fairly stout, i just used that to torque.. (with blue loctite)

Install issues?

Not looking to hi jack, but a quick question that may help others. I went to install my accessory mount and couldn't get an allen wrench to fit the 3 bolts that fasten to the carrier. I tried wrenches from 2 different sets and was only able to get one of them in just barely enough but they're not torqued.

It's like the bolt head is in between sizes.. at least on mine. Anyone else deal with this. I can't put the hi lift on the way it is.

no problem.. and the AEV jack base has some "pockets on the bottom of it" when you store it in the cut out you can keep some loose items in there. sort of handy.

I do not wheel much but I do have tires a bit bigger than stock. Though the hi-lift jack looks "cooler" and better function, I think the AEV jack base with stock jack is probably all i need. Thanks tabber!

no worries, happy to help! tough question. do you wheel a lot? if the answer is no, the stock jack is safer - no question about it... and using the AEV jack base with the stock jack works.

yes you can jack from the rubi rail. i've done it. try to jack nearest to where it bolts up to the frame.

baytownbert I ordered the 48 inch jack off of Amazon with free shipping for $15 less than the offered 42 inch model and it looks like it is a problem, I'll sawzall off 6 inches.

Anyone have input on if the Rubicon Rail can be used as a jack point without damaging it, or the jack sliding under a load?

48" is sort of the "standard size".... some folks have suggested using the 42" jack with the TeraFlex mount so if you accidentally close the tailgate with the rear window open (hard top models) you won't damage the rear window from the jack...

also - clearance - folks are looking to add the jack to the back of their rig and still have the "garage door clearance"...

both should work just fine... for our application. that 6" difference really shouldn't matter for most rigs - now if you're running coilovers and a custom long arm... yeah you might need the bigger jack (probably the 60" hi-lift if i had to guess)... but those guys probably have a roll up garage door and aren't too worried about hitting stuff..

I wouldn't leave anything in my jeep. Anything I use for offroading I put it in my jeep before I go that day. A high lift will be suited for a situation of needing to change a tire offroad where your normal jack is for on road purposes I would think anyway.

a hi-lift is a great tool. obviously it's a jack which can be handy on crappy terrain, where a floor jack might not be ideal (could roll - sink in the mud - needs a lot of space to use..) but a hi-lift can be used as a come-along with a tow strap (in the absence of a winch) or if you just want to try a different form of recovery...

good call... if you don't already have a hi-lift!

personally i run the 48", i have a trektop NX no real issues with the rear window or anything. gets a little sporting on some of the overgrown florida trails though. i can bring a few vines with me from time to time. (always carry a machete! )

Kssting I am very happy with mine as well. I recommend a 42" hi-lift instead of the 48". The 42 sits almost even with the top.

I ordered the Teraflex JK 2007-13, Hi-Lift Jack/CB Mount from Northridge 4X4 and was advised it is on a one month back order by Tera-Flex? Yikes. I told them to push it through anyway and I'll wait.
