nwedgar Guys, make no mistake, there is private property all around that area and some debate as to whether Sweetwater itself is private. When you use mud hole bypasses you are likely on private property at that time. If you go past any trees marked with 3 red stripes of paint you are going on to Corp of Engineer property, and if caught, you run the risk of tickets and having your vehicle impounded. If you are at the lake shore, you are definitely on Corp property.

Just a friendly word of advice from someone who's already had the discussion with one property owner.

Wheel at your own risk.

Somebody told me that was a fun trail top. Any day in the mud is a good day. We are going to Cashes Valley in Blue Ridge on march 30 if you want to join us. Here's a couple more Sweetwater pics

Go ahead and check it out. Stop before you get to the first long puddle (after you cross the pipe) and throw a rock in. You'll see and you can still get out

PM me your deets (ride and where you live) and I'll let you know the next time our crew heads out there.

I've never been there, well I've never actually been down a trail yet. I may head over there and check it out.

Lower Sweetwater near Canton Georgia

Looking for some help on the trails near Canton Georgia.

New guy here, I normally hang out at the Earlycj5 forums since I have a '74 CJ5.

I've wheeled a few times at Lower Sweetwater and it's a pretty cool trail. The problem is that it also looks like a dump. Lot's of folks dumping garbage, and more than a few tires litter the trail almost down to the lake.

I thought it might be a good idea to try and get a trail clean up for early 2013. Thinking about contacting property owners and hunting club there to get them involved too. I'm really afraid that someone is going to get sick and tired of all the garbage and put a cattle gate at the start of that trail and we'll be all done at Sweetwater.

If you local guys think this is a good thing and want to dedicate a day in the spring for this then let me know in the thread here. This is only in the planning stages, but I really believe we could do some good here.

Thanks,

Norm
