|jk'n||mntnclmbr, Hilldweller uses 16 inch rims because of price. He mentioned this on other threads. Since dollars are a concern, you might look into 16s? He said was able to purchase wheels and tires in 16 for the price of just tires on 18s.|

|mntnclmbr||Great lookin JK there "Hilldweller!" A couple of questions? How long have you had those Goodyears on? Do they wear worth a crap? I've run SR-A's on Titan, ran threw 2 sets in 36K, also had a set of regular wranglers on my old jeep, wore out quick and now I've changed all of these.....This gets to be very pricey maintenance (my accountant was alittle concerned of my spending habits last couple of years). So I was thinking a Toyo or Kumho or something of that nature.....Anyone's thoughts? And about that backspacing, the dealer called me back and said, 5" was the better also.|

You need the backspacing to avoid rubbing hard parts. A smaller number means that it sticks out further; counter intuitive...
Here's mine with 11.5" wide tires and 4.5" backspacing:
A 285/75-18 should look about the same only bigger around... ...5" would actually work better for your backspacing. Running a 35 with a 2.5" lift and 4.5" of backspacing might have your outer tread rub the inside of the fenders at full-stuff; it won't be bad though and will largely depend on the tire you choose and the tread.

|jk'n||Mntnclmbr, mine are stock tires and rims but I like investigating what others are doing with theirs. It gives me ideas for the future. I thought the offset had more to do with making sure that they clear on the inside?? Not sure. One inch past the flares doesn't seem to be way out.|

Dealer said they would stick out alittle from the off set 4.5, I just don't want them to look stupid like some of the tj's out there that have them stickenway out past the fender\,

Hilldweller has a pretty good handle on tire sizes.
I went on line and looked up Rockstar rims. Are they the black ones? You said that they are 18 inch. I have heard the term offset mentioned regarding rims. I think it has something to do with a horizontal distance from some point certain, maybe Hilldweller can clear that one up. May need some more dimensions about the rims before a definitive answer can be obtained? I haven't been to tire school but am able to do things like the math involved to calculate the distances. Take us to school Hilldweller.

35x12.5 should fit.
Stock width is a 255 ---- a 255/85-16 tire is a very good expedition-worthy size; it's a true 33" around but narrow enough to be easy on gas and very good in mud.
Jeeps aren't heavy and don't really need fat tires...
That said, I run 285/75-16 Goodyear MTR Kevlars. Mean tire.

Hey Guys! (JK'N, you can jump in anytime!) I'm in the process of getting my new tires lined up, I did the TeraFlex 2.5" lift, and am workin on tires to go on Rockstars - what is the MAX width I can go without rubbing, "I mean, NO RUBBING" - 18" wheels with probably Nitto mud Grapplers - Goodyear dealer sayes stay with the width that is already on there, I say needs to be wider....
