dreamzx93 Got under the jeep to check out some things today to see if this noise is not the dreaded trans. Check u joints looked fine with no play in them. Popped the cap off front diff and everything is spotless with new looking fluid.

I guess now its drop the trans and check throw out bearing, pressure plate, and clutch. If no go there then i guess its trans rebuild time. Thought about checking transfer case fluid. That's one thing I have not done.

Any other ideas?

CowboySnR $800 is good. I think my local auto supplier charges $1600 for a crate trans. As for core it should be OK. They are just going to rebuild the one you send them. Only take the parts you need off the old one to complete the rebuilt one.

dreamzx93 I just found a rebuilt one for 800. Is that a good price? Only thing im worried about is them not accepting my core for some stupid reason after its been shipped. Also with this body lift i have (pictures in my other thread) do i need some sort of urethane block thats bigger than whats under it to elevate it more so this problem does not occur again?

CowboySnR Sorry no, ive worked on cars and trucks for 20years but when it comes to transmissions I have only taken apart one manual trans.

dreamzx93 Any idea of what's going on in the trans

CowboySnR Rebuild trans.
Anytime your trans starts doing things like that, there is no magic fluid change or luck wrench trick. And if for some reason you some how get it working again with a fluid change odds are its just going to leave you on the ride of the road.
Best thing is buy a used one, rebuilt one with a warranty, rebuild yours, or order a new one from your local auto parts store.

Left off 1st Teeth Chatter

I put some new synchromesh in the trans today thinking it would fix my problem. When I bought the jeep the third gear was a bit iffy but with some finesse it worked. I had it parked for 4 weeks roughly while out on biz. Came back and drove it. The new issue is when I let off the gas while in first and not carrying much speed it makes a chattering noise like the gears are chattering. It only does this in 1st and second gear refuses to go in. Every now and then it will go but most of the time its just a grind or it flat out does not want to go in gear.

So I thought a trans fluid change would work. I took the fluid out it was tan and thick. Im guessing this is caused by water getting in there somehow.

Anyone have any thoughts and what the deal is and what I should do next?

Thanks
