New Window For My Jeep

ohradiogirl Putting on the new skins was brutal. I'm no wuss, but it was 70+ degrees today and it was still a monster putting it on. I only did one and I don't know when I will do the other one.

I did end up using the hair dryer, but the gnarly part was trying to get the skin over the rounded corners. Ended up using a screw driver ... really!

I'll post pics tomorrow ... just too damn tired right now and I have to be @ work @ 5a.

Again, thanks for the tips.

ohradiogirl I'm in Columbus.

The avatar pic is from this past winter (Nov or Dec) in Pittsburgh).

You guys give good info. I like the suggestion about the hair dryer to warm up the windows.

Between the rain and the not so warm temps, I am just stuck for now. Thanks much for all the tips and getting me motivated.

daanbc Are you talking about just zipping the zippers and the velcro? If so that is so easy, That's one of the first things to learn when ya get a jeep. I'm sure sooner or later it will get warm enough for you to want to go topless. LOL.

wetzie I would suggest taking the windows indoors and letting them warm up. I have used a heat gun or dryer to heat the vinyl to get it move more freely.

nater344 Window skin are pretty easy to your $75. It shouldn't be very difficult, even in cold weather. Good luck.

01 TJ Oh good lord! I just saw the avatar! Are you guys still getting that much snow? Damn, I hate cold weather!

ohradiogirl Thanks for the quick reply. I'm being lazy. I'm hoping the weather will allow me to change them out sometime this week.

01 TJ The 75 is a rip off. It is a simple 15 minute install. Just zip the old ones out and put the metal/rubber seal on the new back window on and you are good to go.

Replacing Window Skins

Hello all ... my first post here. Though I've had my Jeep 12 years.

Windows are so busted, I finally got some replacement skins. I've never replaced the skins. Problem is the weather has not been 'warm' enough to try to put them on. I live in Ohio and I don't have a garage. I got the Best Top skins from a store and they charge $75 to put them on.

I'm thinking I can do it myself if I can just get the weather to cooperate.

Your thoughts ... or should I just go back to the place where I bought the skins and have them put them on for the $75?
