|Rothern22||Anybody going to be around Sunday that can some by and help me center axles and adjust control arms. I think i got them close but I want somebody to look at them and give me their opinion. I live in NW Wichita near New Market square. Would really appriciate the help.|

|Rothern22||well after looking all day I came up empty. I gave 4 or 5 guys a call and nobody had what I was looking for. They don't seem to make the style that you have a picture of. Im going to give that guy a call and see if he has anything or can make something. Do you recommend any machine shop here in Wichita? Ive moved onto the rear, allowing me to think about the front, and got the rear axle removed and all finished up disassembly except for the frame side rear track bar bolt. I think the bolt is rusted to the sleeve on the track bar. Ive beat the crap out of it and it wont move. It will spin all day long. I guess my only option is to get the saws all out.|

|MR.CLIFFORD||Timmy may not have exactly what you are after but he can make it. That is, if you can't find some somewhere else that will work for you setup. Weld washers are the exact way to mount your hardware.|

|Rothern22||I did a little looking and I think i may have found some.|

|Rothern22||Thanks for the link. I didn't know those existed. The only problem is they don't come in 7/16" and I'm not excited about changing out my JJ.|

You can always look into weld washers. There has to be a set out there that will work for you application.
4130 Chromoly Weld Washers

|Rothern22||Yeah the bolt fits through the Johnny joint like it should. I started on the back and ill come back to the front a little later. For example the currie instruction say to drill out the front upper frame to 7/16. I got it all set up and the bit just fell through the hole. That's when I got to looking a little closer at all the holes. Both upper and lower need some work. Another thought was to weld around the hole to put some material down and re-drill them but I don't feel that comfortable with the mig.|

|MR.CLIFFORD||Do the bolts fit the control arms properly?|
|04-16-2013 02:22 PM|
|Rothern22||OK guys and gals. I have started the tear down and have the new front axle is in. My front upper and lower control arm bracket (where the attach to the frame) are oversized I found. From what I can tell, I dont see where the bolt has worked the hole but there is a lot of slop with the new bolts. I have fabbed up some .125 4130 "washers" that I am going to weld on the outside of the frame brackets to take up the slop. Im hoping that will be strong enough not to oversize again. Im curious what I will find on the rear axle. Im still looking for some help maybe this weekend or next. 2 kids and baseball are making time for the project hit and miss. If anybody wants to come over and shoot the shit and check it out, let me know. Thanks|

|183Beast||Run them. It will be fine.|
|03-25-2013 02:51 PM|
|Rothern22||OK guys I think I have everything I need to get the lift on. I only thing I don't have is the rear driveshaft and the tires. I still think I can get away with driving it in town until I can swing the tires. Once I get the lift on, I'll measure and get the DS on order. I should get my shocks on Tuesday. I have a problem, I'm not sure if I want to put the lift on and run the 1/2 worn 32x12.5 BFG AT's in the meantime. I've looked at some 4 in lift with 32's and it looked a little silly and then I see some that don't look too bad. Also the d30 and the 8.8 have the 4.88 gears installed. If I wait for tires, I think it will delay the build for a couple months. Which I guess is no big deal but I'm ready to do this. What would all you do?|

Yeah I've heard of powerdrive and they have done some work for me lately. I guess you are looking at 250 a piece. I guess it makes more sense to pay the extra 50 bucks and get new.
I got a good coat of kroil on all the nuts tonight and plan on ordering the 8.8 yoke adapter and XJ ebrake cables tomorrow. Getting one step closer...

Well just got the SYE on order from Advance adapters. I held off on the DS b/c the guys said I should wait and measure when complete. My original plan was to get a Tom Woods but I took this guys advice. He also threw something out there that I have never heard of anybody doing. He said to "save some money and find a FRONT driveshaft from a XJ or Wrangler, take it to a driveshaft shop and have them cut it down to proper length". Has anybody heard of this?
Also I have 32" tires on there now. I can really cut down my wait but just running those with the lift for awhile. Question 1....Will that look stupid as hell? Question 2...I'll have 4.88 gears in preparation for the 35's. I don't do a lot of highway driving so I don't think that will be a problem. Anybody see an issue? Alright I thought of one last thing....I am wanting to go with bilstein 5100's. Do I need to have the lift on and measure shock travel before I order them? Thanks guys

I was just trying to get a feel for who is out there and willing to help me out. Hell yeah we can make it a party. Sounds like a good reason to get another keg in the kegerator!!|

Calling all Wichita area lift kit professionals
Been looking around this forum and the other for awhile now and realized there are some pretty sharp guys out there.
I've been collecting alot of parts lately and waiting for funds to get the last of it. Right now I have a savvy 4" lift, Ford 8.8, new to me D30 with 4.88 gears to match the rear, stearing stab, and other little stuff all sitting on the floor waiting to be installed. My rig is a 97 TJ manual with 4.0. I still need to buy the SYE and shocks. I hopefully can get all the other parts in the next couple months.
Now finally to my question...Is there anybody that is willing to give me a hand installing all this? I figure it would be easier to have all the parts ready to go and just tear into it. I have the garage space and all the tools I can think of to do it. I basically just need someone with the know how to get the suspension all setup. That is the only part I am fearing. Like I said, I'm not looking for anybody tomorrow but If I can get in touch with someone or a couple of you guys, I can be that much farther ahead. Thanks
