Jerry Bransford Vinyl windows tend to crack more easily if they have started turning opaque or are yellowing from scratches on the surface caused by using paper towels on them. It's a little too late if this is what caused your windows to turn fragile but it's just a good idea to never use paper towels, which are made from wood particulates, on our vinyl windows.

Bobs Jeep It was 29 degrees here in South Carolina last Thursday and opened my rear window and it cracked in a big X pattern. I taped it up for now. I have a new Trektop but never got around to putting it on.

RufusPumble I have a roll of black Gorilla Tape that I use to patch cracks on the windows, until I pay to replace them. Fortunately for me, the cracks are all in an area of the window that are not in my field of vision.

Little_Foxx Well at least I'm not the only one that has experienced this. Oh well I will be replacing it this summer. Is there anyway to convert it into a hardtop? Just wondering

Nothing hit it, let alone touch it. It is an old soft top, would age cause it to get pretty fragile?
I did. All those early frosty mornings having to unzip my window to show ID to get into work finally took its toll. I thought I had a bright idea and tried using a pool patch kit made for vinyl. It stopped the crack but looks like poop. Oh well. It still works.

2000WranglerRunner I spent some time in North Dakota and knew some wrangler owners whose plastic cracked in the winter. However everytime it was when it was well below zero and they tried to open them. I also saw some rear glass windows shatter in the cold as well.
