Patrick H Still liking them. I've run some fairly mild stuff, rutted/ rocky two-track. I'd buy them again.

any trailing done with them?
kinda stuck between these and Teraflex VSS twin tube...

Rancho Good/valid point about the triple wall as well. It takes a bit to stop the rod from going up and down. In the past I have pulled dinged 9000's and compressed them by hand. I felt a little resistance but still ran them, because my compression is a lot different than having the weight of a rig on it.

Xjman1 My thought was a 9000 is better can down as it is triple walled. I knew it could not be mounted upside down from others post.
I understand the rod is in danger too but it offers more room before it is contacted.
I really like the ride of monotubes and wish my edlebrocks were longer but i think i may go with the 9000's to gain the extra travel as well as ability to "stiffen" them up when towing. Rancho has a good rebate going on so need to move fast.

Correct you CAN NOT mount this "upside down" at one time you could. Different technology (foam insert) but not now.

Depending on the application you can "spin" the 9000 shock body and protect the knob.....

Keep in mind, what if it is rod DOWN and you damage the rod (nick it) and destroy the shock?

I don't believe the 9000 shocks can be mounted can up. Maybe Rancho can confirm this, but I thought I felt a difference up and down before I mounted them.

Xjman1 Got me thinking now. Can up is one thing out of the many i like about my edlebrocks. I am not too worried about the front as it is somewhat protected, but the rear is very vulnerable.
On our last trip to calico, my daughters bf had a rock wedge into his shock body hard, luckily he runs bds shocks so they are twin tubes and the shock still functioned. I was even thinking rancho 9000 if the can had to be mounted down. Now another point to add to my search criteria.

All you need to do is swap the upper and lower bushings. Or swap the sleeve in the lower for the bar pin in the upper.

So the way we have the mounts it is body down. But is you wanted to mess around with bushings, cross pins etc, you can run them rod down since it is a monotube design. We also offer universal applications as well that might be a fit

Xjman1 How was your time in the dirt with these? I am pretty convinced these may be my route or fox but the price is right on these. My biggest concern is a monotube with the can down. If i bend that sucker on a rock it is game over. I see rancho is on here, can the rears be ran can up? Those are the ones i am most concerned about.

Well, you can't hardly compare a leaf spring jeep or a 3/4 ton pickup to a TJ anyway..

That's good. It handles very well, but I wouldn't want it a much more firm. I'm extremely happy with these. I'm fixin' to find out if my Dad likes them as much as I do, as he just ordered a set for his TJ Rubicon.

So on our monotube it is not as highly charged as a Bilstein, FYI. So with your ride being firmer, it won't be as firm/(some say "stiff") as Bilstein.

Patrick H Yes. The Jeep handles very well. Firm, predictable, stable, not harsh. Keep in mind I'm coming from fairly cheap twin tube hydraulic shocks, but it really does drive like a different Jeep. It's a real joy to drive compared to before. No real off-road yet, but I'm planning on taking it out at least a little bit tomorrow.

Xjman1 Ok. You have a few days on there now, thoughts still the same? One thing holding me back is single wall on shock body and it being on the bottom unprotected.

MTJeepTJ I have had several jeeps with OME nitrochargers. A TJ and YJ even an old CJ5 with the 10 leaf packs. They are good imo, soft but seem to gather the body roll up pretty fast. But are soft riding. Good to know on these rancho 7000's tho. I vote bedliner then plasti-dip on top for the housings.

Patrick H I wish I could drive a TJ equipped with Bilsteins or OME shocks so I could give a comparison. Driving to work this morning reassured me though that I don't regret buying the 7000's one bit. At least, not until I try or drive a different shock. What a difference. I'm guessing that I'll be equally as happy with them off-road; time will tell.

Xjman1 Rite along the line i was thinking of going. I may just order rancho 2.5 coils though to avoid the spacer. I currently have rancho lower control arms with the barrel shaped bushings and re upper rear control arms with some front in the garage waiting to go on once gone over.
Looking to run jks trackbars as well with the cv bracket in the rear since i have the ucf high clearance skid.
