Jerry Bransford Standard 75W-90 gear lube is a GL-5 which should not be used in your transmission since the additives used in most GL-5 gear lubes are a little too harsh on the soft yellow-metal gear synchronizers.

Redline MT-90 is about the best I can recommend for your transmission, it's a synthetic and works very well. It's a GL-4 by the way. You can get it from Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 or Red Line Oil

Your transfer case is not fussy about the ATF it gets, most any good quality ATF is fine. ATF+3 and ATF+4 are two that would work very well.

Make gl3 anymore. Anyone heard that?

97tjsport I just went to the dealer to get GL 3 tranny fluid and they told me they stopped making it and to just use 10w30 motor oil. Is this right?

spanky your T-case will do just fine with some ATF +3 or +4

as far as the axles go, it seems like the vote around here is dino oil, any good 90 weight should be fine.

and for the tranny, ive heard that Redline MT-90 is great, but i cant say first hand- never tired it.

flattietj the super jeepers on here r gonna tell you to use what the manufacturer reccomends but in the tranny use gear oil(to be honest just leave it alone).....in the tcase we use atf +4 and i think that is what they call for.......you can use any brand they are all the same dont let the nazis fool you.....buying mopar does not make your jeep run better or get better gas mileage no matter what anybody says.....buy it from napa, advanced, autozone, etc...whatever parts store you have available will be able to tell you what you need and how much.....good luck

97 tj tranny and diff fluid

Ok I just bought my 97 TJ 5 speed and I want to change out all the fluids. Should I get the mopar tranny fluid or is there something better to put in it. Also the rear end takes the basic 80\90w gear oil right? Sorry if this has been asked before but I searched and didnt come up with any clear answers.
