Supposedly it speeds up the degredation of the rubber. I can't say I personally know or agree.........just that I've heard that.
The 4point we all know and love is probably talking about a "protectant" that is made by Trojans for his "spare".

4point My spare does not match (brand) the rest of my tires. Its a used 50% tire and does not rotate in. Its the only tire I use tire protectant on to help keep it in good shape.

nutmegger1957 I was just tryin to figure out which is worse.........the sun on the spare, or the salt in the winter.......

Dare2BSquare As long as your spare looks good, go for it. I always rotated mine in with the others whenever I did maintenance.

Spare Tire Cover

I have one, and I used it for about a year, and I'm thinkin.........hmmmmmmm.......maybe I should take it off in the summer, and only put it on in the winter, to keep the salt and crap off it.

What'dya think? Better for the tire to let it "breath" in the summer?
