|Mistermoose||If you have the outlet to plug into the cig lighter you could splice the wires together I just did that so I can still unplug and hide/remove|

So i definitely need the plastic thing!
What are the ups and downs to wiring it to the cigarette outlet versus the directly to the battery besides portability?
Thanks for the reply

|sparky||If you wire to the battery (preferred) you can get quick disconnect power plugs like molex connectors or Anderson Power Poles. This will give you the same ease of removal as a lighter plug.|

You can just make the wires longer but I wouldn't recommend getting power from the fusebox. I prefer the battery since I had horrible engine noise coming from the radio when I had it tapped into the fusebox everytime I gave the tj gas.
As far as that plastic thing goes, that should be your inline fuse so you don't blow your radio.
I forgot to mention, alot of people like to run it to a cigarette plug you can probably purchase at radio shack. Just twist the exposed tires to the contacts of the cigarette plug and viola, you got power that way. (If you are looking for portability, otherwise I'd personally wire it up to the battery)

Wiring my CB radio
I need some help wiring my new Cb radio into the Jeep. My old one had a cigarette outlet pug that could be unplugged from the rear of the radio for easy transport if the soft top is off. The new radio ( Uniden Pro501XL )has the black and red power wires connected to the rear of the radio and cannot be unplugged. The ends have been stripped which makes me think you connect it to the battery but there's only like 3 feet of wire, no way its going to reach.
Does anyone have some ideas as to how i could wire it, either to the fuse box (how do you do that?!), to the starter switch, battery or cigarette outlet?
Heres what the back looks like. plug for the antenna, and the power wires coming out the back, to jack above the power is just for a speaker.
This is the ends of the wires which were already stripped
What the heck is this??!!
any help would be much appreciated!!
