|gmanjeep||I was going to wait for a 2014 but found out they were discontinuing the Commando Green. Picked up my CG Rubicon 2 door in Ocala, Florida (drove 300 miles from Miami) on June 30th. I called Jeep a few days before that and they told me they were no longer taking orders for the 2013. Jeep seems to have very few color options for 2014.|

I want stickers
I want a Jeep soooo bad! Waiting on the 14s since there isn't going to be a big price change. Can't decide on a color yet...do I get to choose the stickers I want??? Cause if I do that's a no brainer. I'm definitely waiting for the 14s

I do enjoy how the auto industry rumor mill runs wild.
The only thing that will drive significant changes to the JK is the market and CAFE standards.
CAFE standards going forward work on the measurements of the vehicle, how much physical space it takes up. So, oddly enough, the JKU is in a better position in the years where the standards start to climb.
Market-driven changes should worry Jeep purists. The more they sell the more feedback they get. That feedback often calls for a more plush ride and more baubles. IMHO that's what happened to the Tacoma (and I'm an owner of a Tacoma).
Thankfully, the enthusiast community in the Jeep world is more organized and off-road focused, so that serves to counter the more mainstream consumer demands.
Within 5 years or so, with the footprint-based CAFE standards, the JK Wranger will have to bump a few MPG on the EPA combined score. That could be done right now by shedding weight, but it bumps the prices. Some gearing and transmission tricks can do it too, but again, bumping the prices a little more. (That's where the 8 speed comes in, IMHO)
Also, remember there are two big happenings in the diesel world. US and EU emission standards for diesel will reach parity pretty soon, and they'll be making diesel out of all the tar they're stripping out of the ground in Canada and elsewhere. More tar means more diesel. More diesel means price stability. So we may benefit from a small diesel war around the fringes of vehicle design. VW is currently winning that one, putting pressure on others.
My bottom line on this is pretty simple. The Jeep hasn't had what I call a "major redesign" since it was built. It's had evolutionary changes. It's still a tub bolted on a frame riding on two solid axles.
So if they add a diesel option down the line and play tricks with transmissions, those ain't big changes. They are just adaptations. :-)

Rumor mill is cranking up now. I was going to wait for the 8-speed in 2014 but I was sufficiently sure it wasn't coming and ordered my 10th anniversary.
Now if it does come and we get the 8.4" screen some aero improvements and mileage in low 20s I may have to see how much it will take to flip. I still think its a low probability that they drastically change the wrangler when there have been pretty large changes last couple years.

|WannaV8JK||Sweet. If this is the 2014 design then my 2013 JKUR with only about 600 miles on and a Metalcloak lift is going up for sale.|

This may have been posted, but I've just got off of night shift and don't feel like looking.
I saw this this morning...
Jeep Wrangler Redesign For 2014?
|05-03-2013 09:32 PM|
The 8 speed auto transmission will indeed appear in 2014...however, it will be a beefed up version of the current offering. Additionally, a rear view camera will be an option as well.

Sound bars with polyfill directly from the Toledo plant!
I don't care who you are, that's funny right there
|04-14-2013 06:59 PM|
I'm also about to make a lifelong dream come true and own my first Wrangler. Owned many jeeps and many used vehicles to get from point a to point b but my first new vehicle will be the JKU.
All settled on the Rubicon but I can't help wondering about the 2014's. Here are some rumors I collected outside the color choices (nothing confirmed)
- 8 speed automatic transmission adding a few MPG
- New wheel choices - again
- New bumper option - similar to the 10a
- Soundbars prepacked with poly-fil (j/k)
What do you think the 2014 will/should bring before the pending redesign?

I don't know about Plum Crazy, but I'll ask

Oh no... Floyd got cancelled and my wife was wanting that in a JKU
Oh well back to the pallet board

BOY! I'd be a real toss up for me. Would I want the new aerodynamically designed 2014 Cherokee, or would it be better to try and locate a used low mileage Pontiac Aztec?
I think Jeep has a real hit on their hands with this one guys! Because, nothing conveys sheer rugged dependability like an Alfa Romeo-derived platform.

I can't wait for the Louvered grill and eight speed auto for better fuel economy like the Ram trucks have.
You can keep your 10A Rubicon. That's the Rubicon I'm waiting for!

|wmittz||When does everyone think the 8 speed tranny will be available in a JK|
|04-06-2013 08:59 PM|
|GeckoJK||2014 Grand Cherokees are the only 14s out. That is only cause Chrysler did a short 13 model year to get the new 8 speed transmission into the 14.|
