jpdocdave depends on the axle, but not too dificult.
04-28-2009 04:36 PM
superdave never done it before and i'm quite new to jeeps in general...is swapping out an axle difficult? i'm guessing it's a weekend job?
04-28-2009 08:24 AM
jpdocdave most people don't see the reason to spend that money on a 35. not sure on cost, but i bet you could put in a d44 close to the same price. you can find them for 100 to 200 bux if you look enough. and 300 all over the place.
04-27-2009 02:10 PM
superdave anyone have any thoughts or experiences with Superior Axle and installing a super 35 axle truss? is it overkill? can you really have overkill when strenthening the dana 35? seems like a decently cost effective way to beef up the 35 without having to spend a lot of money buying the dana 44.
anyone heading to the cliffs soon?!
04-27-2009 11:14 AM
whitebuffalo id def regear. its expensive, but worth it. i'd go ahead and do the SYE too. do it right the first time and you'll save money in the longrun.
04-24-2009 03:33 PM
jpdocdave i'd still regear, eventually if you have to wait.

sounds like a better combo for ya though
04-24-2009 12:26 PM
superdave awesome. thnks dave!
well, from what i've been reading up on...it's just going to be waaay to much work to put on the 35's. in retrospect...it may not be the best idea seeing as how my jeep is a DD and off-roader. i have the dana 35 in the rear that i'm sure wouldn't last long with
35's huh? lol!
i think i probably will just pick up some 33's and stick with a 4" lift. if i do that do i still need to re-gear? as far as extras go...i looked online...most kits come with almost everything i will need. should i purchase the SYE just to be sure? i've heard mixed opinions on this one. some say i won't need it on a 4" lift with 33's, others say invest in it anyway.
i'm new to jeeps in general...is this lift going to be a pain to install? my auto knowledge is pretty limited to maintenance and small stuff.
thanks!

jpdocdave welcome from north east illinois. you can do anything you want. regearing would be mandatory. honestly you'd have the most problem on the road if you're gonna drive it daily. off road would be fine. stock axles are pretty weak though once you go w/ 35's. might wanna consider 33's.

superdave
anyone near the chicago northwest suburb area?

hey all! I'm a newb here...just got my
2006 SE 4 banger...yah I know...a 4 banger. I'm trying to maximize the most out of it. I had a few lift questions for anyone with experience with 4 bangers.
Are 35's too big for the 4 banger? What and how much goes into regearing the axle? Will I definitely have to do that to get the 35's on there? What else should I be researching as far as lifts go?
thanks all!
