The rules are different if we go down to the States, buy it, and bring it back. You have to send the paperwork to the border 72hrs (I think) before you bring it back. Now, if you are moving from the States to Canada, it may be different. Best contact the Canadian border services and ask so there is no surprises when you show up. You will need a safety check once here, so make sure your daytime running lights are enabled!

If it's new, then that won't be a problem. But used, I wouldn't even bother. Any deal from there can be found here.
I'd imagine that it's just an out of province inspection and whatever else your individual province might require. I don't think it's a huge headache in particular - but I did get pulled over in Ontario on our way home from Montreal with a new car because we had apparently needed to have it inspected in Montreal before we left and THEN also when we got home to Alberta? Just double check the policies in whichever state you buy and whichever province you're in, I guess.

A friend of mine bought his truck down in Michigan.. I'm pretty sure all he needed was a typical safety and e-test once it was back in ontario

There is definitely no shortage of that around here.

Gord P Ah. Yeah, we haven't had the typical hot and dry summer. And, when it is really nice, it's usually while we're at work.

Lol, Burlington. Just seems every time I've wanted to take them all off there's been rain or cold in the forecast. I've had the front 2 off a few times, but with my daughter in the back I don't take the back ones off.

Thanks for the advice.... now I just need to find the time, lol.
