Not sure what a hellip is, but I am 100% certain the the fuel pressure regulator can be individually replaced. If the Jeep runs well except for the starting problem, there is nothing wrong with the fuel pump itself. Replace the FPR.

The dealer recommends replacing complete assemblies for a number of reasons, none of which are good for the customer's wallet.

Wheel2Work Do some searching first, as there have been people who had success replacing bits & pieces. IIRC though, the wrangler fuel pump is a multi function unit that also regulates fuel pressure and is the fuel filter… basically an all in one unit. That's why the dealership just recommends replacing it.

loriente the jeep is 13 years old with 90k . would you recommend just putting in a new fuel pump?

Wheel2Work First turn of the key primes the fuel line again… second turn then starts it up. It's a pretty common thing for Jeeps when the check valves in the fuel system fail.

mrbat23 Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator or drain back valve is letting the fuel back down into tank. so when you first crank it ,it is bringing fuel back up for your second crank.

loriente No. I have to briefly turn the key. Stop. and then turn the key again and it starts right away.

Lando25 Does it start right away if you turn your key on then wait a couple seconds to start it?

starting issue

My 1999 Wrangler does not start on the first turn of the key. It starts immediately on the second try. The dealer says I nee a new fuel pump. I have no stalling issues or loss of power. What do you think? It has been this way for six months or so. 90000 miles on vehicle. Does a fuel pump go out suddenly or would I get another warning besides not starting on the first try?

Thanks
