Patrick H A propane torch, or even MAPP gas, won't heat it enough to soften the steel. That said, you shouldn't need to heat that seat bracket to bend it. Just use a large pair of channel lock type pliers, or a large adjustable wrench..

elclipo Thanks for the ideas guys. Looks like I need to get me a torch. I assume a small handheld torch would be enough?

i agree, just be careful with the heat. and i would knock the paint off before doing it personally.
