kawa001 I suspect our continued access to those roads is tenuous at best.

jwraymond Well that wouldn't be cool at all. that's like the only thing fun around here to do. I know about the tickets cause a couple people I've went with have gotten them.

If you do get caught its a $175 fine. Also I was talking with the ranger for the flagpole district and he said if people keep going where they are not supposed to be they arw going to shut it down. Not to be a debbie downer but I enjoy going out there as well as numerous others so we need to pass the word so they don't shut it down.

I think Shoe Creek is harder than Flagpole. Not a lot of mud but several stream crossings, lots of rocks and wash outs. Also a lot of little quick shoots off the trail to make things interesting. It can be done with a stock rig with some care. Not as pretty as Flagpole but I think it's a small step up. Photos on my Facebook page (Doug-Sarah Howell)

I heard that the trails were open again but it was from an unreliable source. So does anyone really know if those trails are open for wheeling?
With the exception of certain seasonal roads like Peters Mill/Taskers Gap, Potts Mountain, Stateline, etc, all GWNF roads are open year round. Flagpole, for example, does not close. The Nat Geo Trails Illustrated map does a pretty decent job of showing seasonal roads.

That said, the FS has permenantly closed many of the old favorites like Dry Run and the technical section of Dictum Ridge.
