*** Yes the Dealerships all around the US have commented and expressed complaints to the Chrysler Corp. but we also need your help as well. As you/we all know the squeeky wheel gets the grease, meaning if customers don't get ahold of the Chrysler Corp and explain their frustrations personally then it means less complaints about the issues at hand. That is the main reason why my GM gave 12abbit the direct phone number to the Chrysler Rep. We can only do so much, just like you can only do so much, but together maybe we can make a difference. The new Jeeps all come with the Trans Cooler so obviosly they listen and hear the squeeky wheel.
*** Also, good call on the LifeTime Warranty as well, definatly a great option to get for added peace of mind!

I can personally tell you that my axles are coated so crappy that I have exposed welds and the plug welds from my pumpkin to my axle tubes have rust just draining out of them. I refuse to paint mine or waste a day so the dealer can paint them. Instead I have a lifetime warranty and I am going to wait until something breaks and have it fixed.

***Didn't know that this forum was going to turn into a debate when I joined a couple years ago, but ok... Chapman fixes whatever a customer wants to pay to get fixed or what Chrysler Corporation pays for, no one in America works for free, except maybe me... LOL. I assume you are questioning Chryslers response to the surface rust on the Drive Shafts and Spindles. I personally think that it looks like crap, I am 100% in agreeance with everyone on this subject. Unfortunatly there hasn't been any recalls or service bulletins from Chrysler stating they will pay dealers to fix the cosmetic rust. I do not have a better answer than that. That is the reason why I brought up the $5 spray paint can of Rustoleum. The issue is not the fact that Chapman sells Jeeps with the factory surface rust but EVERY Jeep dealer in the world that sells Jeeps have the same exact issue. If it was just one dealer that had the issue then they 100% would be to blame but if they ALL are having the issue of surface rust the the Chrysler Corp. is the one that get the finger not the Service Dept for not repainting everything free of charge.

*** I am 100% in on a run, I lead alot of runs on Sundays for the Chapman Guys here including our customers. I post alot of my runs on my FaceBook page. www.FaceBook.com/MrJeepLV Check it out! I also am on www.WarMachines702.com under MoparMan. They always have several runs that I attend but only the ones on Sundays and Thursdays. I hope that I can EVENTUALLY redeem the dealerships image as MY goal is to assist everyone I can as EFFICIANTLY as possible. Like I said I know that your biggest issue was going to be the waisted time, effort and fuel coming down for no reason but IF you EVER need anything, even if it is a question PLEASE let me know!
*** Have a blessed day and hope to see you on the trail ASAP!

I'm not even that upset about the rust or the gate, it was more about the lack of respect for ones time & knowledge. All I wanted was to be treated fairly.I didn't want anything for free. I even told Vince the 1st day I would be willing to buy the supplies to paint my undercarriage if we could work out something with the labor?( ask him) They never even offered me the chance to purchase a new stopper hinge? All I was told was rust is completely normal on a 4 month 2013.. I took that the way anybody would , it was the "deal with it" treatment.. Does that sound like a helpful supportive service center? The only saving grace Is when Vince did finally offer me Gary's contact info where I could leave a message.. Where I was promptly called back(1hr maybe less) by Gary, he had asked me what the issue was. He then called me back shortly after are conversation telling me to travel to another dealership to get my jeep looked at again.. @ this point I had already missed 2 days of work from pointless appointments with the service center. I work 50+ hrs a week commonly, my time is money. So I told him No, send me this Chrysler reps info. I've already taken steps to fix these issues myself. If you guys would like to help maybe we could figure something out.. Still waiting on that email btw... But I've received like 4 chapman review us emails that I've refrained from doing because I was waiting on that email. But finally I was given a call and gave my $ .02 over the phone.
It's is what it is.. I'm sure some people have had great experiences with you guys! Sadly mine wasn't that way. Sounds like a trail run soon mopar!? Best way to put things behind us is breaking more lol ! But sadly my history of buying with chapman is over...
Ps sorry for typos working over here at planet Hollywood and on the cell!

*** Sorry that you have had issues with the rust on the Jeeps. What you are going through is not an issue with Chapman as we do not build or powercoat Jeeps. Mr. Gary Brewer, the GM, was right in getting you the number to speak with Jeep directly as Dealerships do not have the power to force Jeep to pay for issues such as rust.
*** I do appologize for the multiple trips down here as I'm sure that is your biggest frustration as it would be mine as well. That being said the Tail Gate issue is as stated Jeep designed the stopper hinge to hold the weight of the stock tire and wheel. 4 Wheel Parts should have known better or offered to Up-Sell you on a tire swing because they install lift kits on a daily basis and know the weight increase CAN and WILL cause issues.
*** Once again I do want to appologize for the inconvenience of driving down here MULTIPLE times to find this out but PLEASE let me know what I can do since I do work @ Chapman HENDERSON.

The problem is I just bought $30,000 2013 jku from chapman and I live in summerlin. They had me travel back and forth multiple times.. After much wasted time all I received was excuses and reason why the rust is normal and I should be fine with it..To have "someone" say the rust does nothing is just ignorant. Yes, it may be 100+ years before it ever eats through the metal but rust does significant change the strength of the metal if nothing is done...
Also Chapman refused to fix my gate hinge because I have a 35" tire that they didn't put on.. His exact words are the fallowing :
Service manager- This tire is to big for the gate..that's why it came out..
Me- you sell exact same tires and rims on your jeeps sitting right out front and the hinge is exactly the same!!?
Service manager- thats right we sell them that way..whoever put this on; have them fix it.. (fourwheel parts )
Now, I understand I put aftermarket tires on .. But don't waste my time, this could have been told to me the very first time I showed up at the shop! And seriously .. A gate hinge ?!!
Just seems like poor business to me..
Hope others have had better luck,
***Also of anyone else has had problems with chapman please send me a pm with your story***

*** Amen, that could work also. Unfortunatly it might take longer than you wish but eventually you will get their attention. I have personally heard of the Jeep Corp stepping up on the Oil Coolers. I wish I could be of more help but I can't control the building process of the Jeeps, but if you are patient and call Jeep directly and continue to do so they should eventually help...
*** I personally think my time is to valuable for all the follow up or maybe I'm just to lazy LOL, but thats why I mentioned the $5 can of paint. Give me a call if I can be of help with phone numbers.

Because I would like to paint the susp on a vehicle I just paid over $30k for... Kinda like the bs answer that I got That I needed to install an aftermarket trans cooler when my hot oil light came on within 300 miles on my 2011.
Just use social networking as your tool and post the pictures right on jeeps facebook page. Then call chrysler customer service and get a case started. By fixing it yourself jeep will think that it is ok to put out a sub par product. Corporate cannot fix a problem if they are not notified.
|04-10-2013 12:13 AM|
|Mopar Man||*** It wouldn't be cost effective for us to do the painting for you. If I were you I would go to Home Depot, Lowe, Auto Zone or OReillys and get a can of Rustoleum Black Spray Paint. For $5 you can do it yourself in 5-10 minutes. Since if is just surface rust you can just paint right over it.|
|04-09-2013 12:11 PM|
Thanks guys! I suppose that makes me feel better about the rust.... just still not cool on a brand new car. Oh well.... it is what it is.
Mopar_Man - can you guys do that painting of those parts at your store? Any idea how much they charge? You can paint over the rust?
|04-08-2013 05:07 PM|
*** Painting it on a regular basis will keep it looking pretty... LOL but the structural integrity isn't compromised because the spingles are 3/4" thick and thicker in some spots. The surface rust isn't nice looking but some Hi-Temp paint makes it last longer.
*** Here is a picture of the brand new Jeeps, they all get it. This one only has 63 miles on it.

|Willson||This is my first Jeep and my undercarriage is rusting like that as well. I'd say crawl under there and spray some of those nut's with WD-40 and it could save you a headache later down the road.|

|Mopar Man||I work at Chapman Chrysler Jeep in the Henderson Auto Mall. We are dealers with almost every aftermarket company out there. In addition to us is 4 Wheel Parts and Adams Driveshaft. I personally do business with them all but out of convenience since I work at Chapman Jeep in Henderson it makes it my one place shop to stop at.|

Cough cough .. Bullshit
Here's a few pics of how mine turned out after I knocked all of the rust.

|gregaf3||Looks good. Get some recovery points, a tow strap (with no hooks), first aid kit, fire extinguisher, a CB, and some water. Then just go out and wheel it. After a few times you will start to see what both you and your rig need.|

Yup, great choice on color!
As for a shop, I've had a bit of work done at 4WP here in Vegas, but try to do most everything myself. A good dremel and basic tools go a long way!

|CFR Marine||You can also check out 4 The Truck here in Henderson. Great shop that doesn't pressure you into anything. I have gone there for my gobi roof rack and just purchased front and rear bumpers with a lift which they will install. I deal with Aaron every time I go you can tell him Scott stemmer sent you his way and hell do everything he can to work with you and your budge to get you the look and performance you want|

|LVRaptor||yes welcome to the madness and like joker said its all about you and your tastes as far as modding goes for the most part. I do however feel there is 1 must do and thats a CB radio, so much smoother and safer on the trail when everyone is on the radio. Last GREAT CHOICE in colors lol I love it!!!! May I suggest the fender chop or purchasing some aftermarket ones as they do serve a purpose and look great. Send me a message if you want to get a CB installed I know a guy that does great work.|

The mods will make the Jeep more capable, more reliable for off road, look good and safer to drive. There is no sequential checklist for mods. Decide what you want your Jeep to do and what you want it to look like. Then decide what's next.
The popular mods are tires wheels and lift. Take a stroll through some catalogs on line and see what you would like. Most of us DIY everything and that's me so shops in town I don't know who is preferred but I know there are a few so keep looking. Good luck and congrats on the Jeep. If you want to go wheeling you are invited to throw in anytime just watch the threads here for meetup info. We have a loose group nothing to nasty or difficult many are stock but we have fun and enjoy getting out. Again Congrats and welcome.

Hello all, well I finally did it.... bought a 2013 Wrangler and I'm big into mods. What are the top 3 stores in Las Vegas for modding? I actually bought it lifted with ProComp wheels so what are the next set of "must-do" mods?
Thanking you all in advance.
