Decoy_58 Mine reads overfull when I fill up.can run about 75 miles then gage reads down to 1/4 . I am EMPTY 204 miles per tank

TigWizard A couple months ago I replaced the pump and sending unit ( 20 gal unit), and modded the tank. I haven't taken it down below 1/2 tank yet. When it hits 1/2 a tank, it takes about 9 gallons or so to fill it up. So, my gauge seems to be fairly accurate. When it gets warmer, I might try to run it down to 1/4 tank.

3rd Jeep No! Stays on "full", even when a trip to gas station takes 12 gals to full - 92 Basic YJ - new to me - needs lots of maint. Plan is to ensure reliable ground first, then go after the sending unit. Mean time, I'm with BillMichaels - will use odometer even if most of my miles are off-road and half in low-4WD.

SirBullet @jimsjeep321... does yours shut off on left turns at 1/4 also?
05-14-2013 08:06 PM
SirBullet mine is fairly accurate, except when it gets to about 1/8 of a tank its empty. also... when it gets to 1/4 it shuts off when i make a left turn. starts right back up and does fine until the next left turn or re-fuel. I tell my wife when it shuts off - that's the "low fuel" alarm. any ideas on how to fix this?

JimsJeep321 Nope.
It reads full when full, but when it reads 1/4 talk full... it really means empty.

wranglergranny Seems to work OK. Stays on F for a long time after a fill up then quickly plummets to E. Haven't run out of gas so it must have a gallon or two left when on E. Haven't pushed it to know exactly how much.

Michigan jeeper When full mine says a little over half it's off by a half tank
05-14-2013 10:44 AM
wranglerbrother nope lol

LostFedExMan Mine says it's at half full always, even if it's completely full, or almost completely empty, it always says half full... Until I run out of gas, then it goes down to 1/4 tank. It's annoying, but now I just rely on the odometer.

UNCLE BS Mine works when its full, well it says full all the time. Lol. I just set my trip every time I fill it up.

Beaver5 Kinda, I run out of gas about 10 miles after the needle hit the red. Guy i bought it from forgot to mention that and i ran out of gas the second day i owned it. thats been 11 years ago.

OregonPlinker Nope. Ive had 2 YJ's. Neither of them worked. I just fill up every 200 miles and carry a 5 gallon can full for safety... I actually laughed at the title of this thread and then was suprized at how many peoples gas gauges work.lol

OK. my has guage works well enough. It's not precisely accurate, and the needle bounces around a bit...

I used to just fill every 225 miles, but my trip counter for mileage doesn't zero properly... Argh....

X2 on this

Oz82 Mine works but takes awhile to register the new level after filling up. I know it's full though, so that's not an issue for me.

94Wrangler4.0 Yes. Works great, brand new spectra fuel pump assembly and gasket. I took out the baffle in the tank too. The only problem I had is that I had to use the 3 wire connection off the stock pump. With that I extend the wires enought to drop the tank with pulling the wires.
