Soli Deo Gloria Hey I spent a ton of time researching rear bumpers and for the money the best I could find was a custom bumper from groundpounderfab - check reviews for his work they are amazing.

I actually just ordered a rear bumper, tire carrier, with d-ring tabs, and high jack lift mount. Then I ended up trading it in for a jk - but kept the bumper. Would be interested in selling if your are interested. It's only about a month old, but do some research or even talk to the guy and you'll see its well worth the month. I can send you some pics as well if interested.

Jwolfer The third and first ones are most similar. If you look at the ends though that is where the difference is. The third one is a little longer and sticks out a little further on the sides than the first one. You can run either an LED light bar or KCs using their fairlead light bracket.

I love their front stubby dagger stinger winch bumper. That is exactly what I was looking for because I am going to remove the stock fenders and replace them with smaller flat, flexible ones.

Actually, now I see two more that are stubby stinger winch bumpers. There is a little bit of price difference, but it's not that much, so it isn't the problem. The only difference I can see is that these two have LED's on them instead of KC's, does that mean that the mounts are for LED's and not KC'S? And on one of them, the stinger is kinda flat on the top. Does that make is sturdier or is that not a stinger. I will put the three links below.

The first one: JcrOffroad, Inc. SWB Wrangler Front Stubby Dagger Stinger Winch Bumper (CJ YJ TJ)

The second one: JcrOffroad, Inc. SWB Wrangler Front Stubby Pre-Runner Winch Bumper (CJ YJ TJ)

The third one: JcrOffroad, Inc. SWB Wrangler Front Stubby Stinger Winch Bumper (CJ YJ TJ)

I think I like the third one the best bc of the looks, but what is the difference in build/ design?

mountkenneth Does anybody else have suggestions on what parts I should get. As mentioned above, I know what I want, I just don't know what brand has the best of these parts.
04-14-2013 10:59 PM
mountkenneth Thanks for the quick replies. I can't figure out how to quote people, but thanks mulvihill64.

And to kyle32, thanks for the input. I wasn't clear in my post. I was just wondering what you would get if you were in my situation with these parameters. Thanks though!!

And to offroad1, the jeep has relatively low mileage (50,xxx), and is in great shape. The poor thing never saw anything besides paved roads (it had street tires when I got it), and it was treated very nicely. I had my long time mechanic friend look at it, and he didn't want me to buy it bc he said he wouldn't make much money off of it. But I see your point of spending money on the necessary before the mods. Thanks for the input.

Offroad1 You didn't give specifics on the Jeep, such as mileage, but before you spend money on modifications make sure all of the maintenance is taken care of. Things like ignition, cooling, brakes, steering, etc. get overlooked until they break and leave you stranded. Check all these things first, address the ones that need attention, then start the mods. This way you can drive with many trouble free miles ahead!

kyle32 not sure what help you want.. you seem to have a good idea of what you want you just dont know what your want them to look like yet..

and only you can decide that..

i myself hate the front bumber that stick out like 2 feet and the back bumber/racks that hold the gas cans..

but some people love them.. so cant really help you there

Help Me Build My Jeep!

Hey guys,

I'm really really new to this forum (as in I created my account today), but I have a stock 2005 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon (TJ) and am looking to add some armor. I am looking for a front bumper, side rails/sliders, and a rear bumper. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions as to which parts would fit me best. The parts don't all have to be the same brand, but I would like them to at least look somewhat similar (i.e. not a tube front bumper and a rock crawling rear bumper).

For the front bumper, there are a few things that I would like to have on it:
2)winch mount (8,000 lb winch)
3)rock Crowler style like the Smittybilt XRC series
4)d-ring mounting brackets
5)I would like for it to be able to take some abuse on the trail, like the entire jeep dropping onto it

For the side rails:
2)these also need to be able to support the jeep's weight during a drop
3)I have a friend who's life was saved when his jeep was tboned bc the rails stopped the 1/2 ton truck from getting to him, so I would like for these rails to be very strong so that they might do the same in that situation

Rear bumper:
1)hitch (so I can tow my 2,000 lb. boat)
2)d-ring mounting brackets
3)if it doesn't have a spare tire carrier built in, I would like it to have the option so that I could add it somewhere down the line
4)this one, more-so than the front bumper and sliders, needs to be able to support the weight of the jeep dropping onto it bc the Lj's rear drags A LOT!!
5)for this one, I would also like the rock crawler look (like the smittybilt XRC series)

Any suggestions are appreciated!!!!!
Again, for the front and rear bumpers, I want to have the rock crawler look. And btw, I don't really have a budget for this, but I would like for it to not go above the 1,000-1,500 dollar range.

Again, ANY input is appreciated, and thanks for reading
