myquite Not having an issue with any gauges. I am installing a cj dash on my yj and figuring everything out. Got it all down now.

lynn In a CJ gages and switches are grounded to the dash, which is often a weak ground.
In my '71 I installed a 'glass tub. I ran a ground wire from the battery negative directly to the dash panel, to the inner fenders, and to the grille to ensure a good ground. No reason you couldn't do that on a steel bodied rig if you suspect weak grounds.

gcaughron What issues are you having with the headlights? I had a dimmer switch go bad on my '82 and lost the lights.

headlight switch ground

Does the headlight switch in a CJ ground through the dash panel? Is there a better way to ground the switch to the chassis than that? The only ground i see on the switch diagrams is the ground for the courtesy lights, but that just grounds the switch to the chassis correct? I would appreciate any help. Mike
