That's how our morning went, except I fried up mine the following day. Did not hear a single hen that morning, but the toms were very vocal. Had one communicate with my call for about ten minutes, then nothing. About 15 minutes go by, and I see him checking out my decoy. Tried to draw him in closer, but he stayed out about 50 yards. I knew I could make the shot, but I wanted him to come in closer and strut his stuff so my son could see it. Any way, had to take the long shot.

Grizzlycb If I can find a decent spot I might actually get a chance to do some turkey hunting this year. I do most of my hunting in Bullitt County though.

jwann01 And, good luck to you!
04-10-2013 03:35 PM
jwann01 We will be hunting in Breckinridge County. My son is 7 too. I took him last year but the weather was bad and he lost interest real fast. If I remember correctly, you are in Grayson County. Right? We have a place at Nolin in Twin Coves. You familiar with the area?

BAP thats great , ,i wish you and your son the best of luck....
i will be taking my grandsons out this year , they are 7 and 8 years old, the 8 year old went a couple times with me when he was 6 and we almost got a shot at 1 but he decided to hit the crow call again...lol

what county are you hunting in ??
04-09-2013 02:29 PM
jwann01 Yep! Taking my son to the camp Friday afternoon and hopefully pulling the trigger early Saturday morning. Turkeys are plentiful. Just hope my son can remain patient enough to stay out for a few hours.
