Are you meaning the pins that go into the plug in the back of the mirror??? If so go to the junkyard and look for mirrors with the same style plug. Follow the wires back a ways into the harness in the roof and cut them. Take the whole plug. you can then pop them out and use them in yours.

I did it to mine. Here are a few shots to show you how to move pins on that style plug. Just do the same thing to add and remove.
Back side of plug:

Use a paperclip to push down on little tab on back of pin and pull wire out:

Move the pin, in your case from one plug to the other, and push back in:

Still haven't gotten the thing to work so have given up on it for now.

Diverdown87 Well I decided that before I would spend the money on a premade harness I would try a little modification to the current one. It was really simple to do and after reading the above about 19 times I thought it may have finally clicked.
Here are some pix of what I did.

This is how the connector is from the factory and should be plugged into the back of the mirror:

I flipped it over and used a paperclip to push down on the green wire connector from the bottom of the clip to be able to pull it out:

I then moved it to slot 4 and just pushed it in:

I did the same thing with the one from slot 6 and moved it over to slot 5. This should now give me power when ignition is on (brown pin 1), ground (black pin 2), temp sensor + (green pin 4), temp sensor - (gray pin 5) and battery power (orange pin 7):

I then went outside and hooked up the wires directly to the battery and the sensor. Map lights work fine but no matter what I tried with the sensor I could not get it to illuminate in the mriior window. It could be that I have a bad sensor or I will need the other 2 wires installed to complete the circut. I am also going to first try the pinout that InvisiblePants gave me. I do have another sensor I am going to try and will update the results.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Diverdown87 Well I was looking on ebay and found a harness tof this mirror. Complete with 8' of wire, but the ad says it does not support the temperature feature. Now I am really confused since the car I pulled it from had the temperature sensor installed. Could it have been that it was not hooked up to the mirror?
This sucks.....I wonder if I added pins and wire to the connector I could make it work. I am going to contact the seller of that harness and see what he says.

Diverdown87 Just a quick update. I have not started it yet due to work and weather. I am hoping to have clear skies to try and work on it this Saturday.

InvisiblePants Cool. Keep me posted on how it goes. I will be doing this sometime between maymester and summer term.

PIN 1 = PINK = POWER = +12 volts*
PIN 2 = BLACK = CHASSIS, GROUND*
PIN 3 = LIGHT GREEN = BACKUP LIGHTS*
If not using the backup feature, connect this to ground otherwise auto dim will not function properly.
PIN 4 = GRAY = TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR
PIN 5 = PINK = TO AUTO DIM OUTSIDE MIRROR
PIN 6 = DARK GREEN/WHITE = TEMP SENSOR**

PIN 7 = BLACK/WHITE = TEMP SENSOR**16 pin: (*required; **required if you have a temp display)

If the colors are different, the pin position will remain the same, or so I read. Gentex made and sells these to GM, Ford, M Benz, etc. Often times the harnesses are made by the auto companies as part of their car. They use the colors of wire that suits them."
I also found this which supports what you are saying:
Gentex Compass/Temp Mirror install:

This procedure describes the installation of Gentex compass/temperature mirror (model# GNTX-221) as it was installed on a 2002 Camaro (SS convertible), however would most likely apply to any 4th generation F-body.
Page references are made within this procedure to the “2002 Service Manual” for Camaro/Firebird Volume 3 of 3. A copy is not required for the procedure, however is a helpful reference. (PN for this manual is included in the part list.)
Please note if you are installing this mirror on a convertible equipped car, make sure the mirror you install does include MAP LIGHTS.
Gentex model GNTX-221 is an AUTO-DIMMING, DUAL DISPLAY COMPASS/TEMPERATURE MIRROR WITH (LED) MAPLIGHTS. The compass and temp are BOTH displayed (simultaneously) in the upper right of the mirror area. With the auto-dimming feature, the mirror darkens shade a bit when it senses light (ie. headlights). As per this procedure, you can wire your mirror to disable this feature when placing the vehicle in reverse. The maplights at the bottom of the mirror are LED’s (where the stock mirror, they are lamps).
From the factory, Your Camaro(F-body) includes a “Delayed-Dimming” feature for the mirror maplights, where the maplights do not turn off immediately, …they dim out over a period of about 10-15 seconds (my guess). The “Delayed-Dimming” WILL STILL WORK with this Gentex mirror, however the dimming is not as ‘smooth’ with the LED’s, …it’s more of a stepped function. I only mention this so you know that this will occur, however it’s not an issue to be concerned over.
We’ll begin with the parts list, …then the mirror pinouts, followed by the procedure itself.

(Refer to service manual Page 8-220 for factory rear-view wiring if desired.)

Pin#1: Ignition – Powered when ignition is in the ON position
I tapped to Pin#9 (yellow wire) at radio (RE: P.8-448) only because I was also installing power antenna. Ignition connection can be picked up at an alternate location such as the fuse panel.

Pin#2: Ground – Ground
Since this is the same as the factory wiring, you can utilize the wire from the factory mirror.

Pin#3: Reverse Over-ride – Connected to reverse lights. To disable NVS when car is put in reverse when backing up. (Turning off NVS allows better visibility)

Manual Trans: Tapped to Pin H (light green wire) on connector C220 (located behind passenger side kick panel). NOTE: Ref service manual – (P.8-91 for C220 location), (P8-150 for C220 pinouts), (P8-218 for backup circuit detail). (Ref. Picture below for detail as well)
Automatic Trans: My car was a manual so I didn’t wire this, but for those with automatics, you can tap into Pin F (light green wire) on connector C400 (located on the driver side of rear compartment area). I haven’t been able to chase the wiring down to locate a closer point than this to tap into. I believe C400 pin F comes from the Nuetral Safety Position Switch (PNP) Pin D (re:P8-218) in service manual, …however have not yet confirmed.
NOTE: Ref service manual – (P.8-107 for C400 location), (P8-157 for C400 pinouts), (P8-218 for backup circuit detail). (Ref. Picture below for detail as well)

Pin#4: Temp. + -Temperature probe +
Pin#5: Temp. - - Temperature probe –
These wires need to be run through the firewall to the temperature probe.
I mounted the temp. probe inside the left side grill area where it was clipped to the metal bumper support. I opted to drill (and grommet) a hole just above the wiring block going through the firewall on driver’s side. There are other areas you can pass through the firewall such as a grommet on the right side of the firewall just below the ECM location.

Pin#6: Door switch – (Normally open) …closes when car door is open OR interior dimmer switch is turned for interior lights on. AND has a timed/delay dim off after door is closed. (acts as a switched ground.)
Since this is the same as the factory wiring, you can utilize the wire from the factory mirror.

Pin#7: Battery – Battery connection, …always 12V. To supply voltage for map lights when key is NOT in ignition.
Since this is the same as the factory wiring, you can utilize the wire from the factory mirror.
Start of Procedure:
Before you begin, remember to DISCONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE!!

Begin by removing the necessary interior panels:
You will need to remove, both sun visors; left and right pillar post trim; upper header trim; passenger side lower dash trim; and passenger side kick panel.
Removal of the panels in these areas will allow routing of the necessary wiring to connect your mirror.

Mirror Wiring:
Wire as described in the table/sheet above.

Some notes from the install:

Connector C220 layout (for reverse over-ride wiring on MANUAL trans):
Location: This connector is located just above the passenger side kick-panel and passenger side lower dash trim. There are two large connectors there, …C220 is the forward most of the two.

Connector C400 layout (for reverse over-ride wiring on AUTOMATIC):
Location: This connector is located on the left side of the rear compartment area of the car, …C400 is basically your rear wiring connector in the rear compartment. (NOTE: Pin F is the same wire by the way that the manual trans reverse lights use.)

I am just still concerned as to the connector I pulled with the mirror. The pin outs are different since the diagram above shows 4/5 are for the temp sensor and mine does not have pins there. I could MOVE those pins to those spots but if the bus in the mirror is not the same it might toast the board.
I may hit the yard again and get another harness that is same style and pull the pins from it and add to this one for 7 wire total and go from there. Might even go back to the car I got it from and pull the rest of the roof harness and splice it all back together. (Wish I had thought of that when I cut them before. )

Oh also a correction to the mirror model. It is not a K31. Stamped on the back is GNTX 221.

I think one thing I will do and hopefully not fry the mirror is ground it out and test each wire to see what it does. This way I can lable them accordingly.

I will post what I find out and try to get some pictures as I work along.

Gentex K31 Mirror wiring help

I got one of these mirrors from the local JY along with the temp sensor and pigtail for the mirror. This mirror has Auto Dim, Temp, Compass, and Map lights.

The pig tail has the following wires; Pin 1 Brown, Pin 2 Black, Pin 3 Green, pin 4/5 empty, Pin 6 Grey, Pin 7 Orange. I have been searching on here and Google for a wiring diagram of what each wire does but have not found anything.

Has anyone ever done this swap and if so can you give me a diagram or point me in the right direction.

I appreciate all your help.
