Cwalch3 Thank so much for that! Ya, when I took a look I noticed they'd have to drop the tank to get to anything. I'm just glad I'm in Jeep country now....more people with Jeeps that know what to do. Thanks for the welcome, good luck getting familiar

Kssting You might want to check your fuel filter/strainer as well. A quick search shows the filter to be a 15-20 dollar item but it looks like it is on top of the fuel tank so it might not be an easy fix. If you can drive it up to 4 Wheel Parts on the NW side of town they could probably help better than a standard shop.

Welcome to Utah . I moved here from KC last year so I am still getting familiar with everything.

possible fuel pump problem?

So, I just moved from Cali to Utah. I'm excited to officially be a first time Jeep owner, but it's having a problem I can't seem to figure out. Long story short:

1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara straight 6 4.0 L

Turns - pretends like it's going to start - won't stay on unless you rev' the gas - sounds odd.

It wouldn't start yesterday, so I had it jumped, but it did the same thing. We took off the Air Filter (ya- it was pretty dirty) and it worked and ran fine. Went to O'reillys - got a new air filter.

Battery tested fine
Alternator tested fine
Starter is great
Enough gas in tank

Here's what I narrowed it down to: Fuel pump, but shout out if you think you know what it is and any suggestions where to get it done, how much it usually costs. Thanks in advance!
