roadyrob kentrol makes black powder coated hinges, a little more money but they are stainless and should last forever.

Just installed Smittybilt 7603 Black hinges---blocks doors!

Hi---No small project, but just installed the Smittybilt 7603 Black Hinges on my 1990 Wrangler YJ, went to put the doors on, and they are blocked by the bolts! The original hinges had flat head screws flush with the hinges. These Smittybilts have a round head that sticks out just enough to block the door removal/replacement. Anyone else have this issue? Suggestions

Was the smittybuilt one in stainless? I think they only make smittybuilt ones in stainless color. I'm looking for black.
Thanks

ChicoJeepy Sounds like these company's are making "incorrect" parts. Ohhhh wonder who's going to loose their job.

So what brand hinge ended up working properly? I tried the rugged ridge ones and they didn't fit. I called rugged ridge tech support and the guy went through their whole stock and said he realized they were all manufactured incorrectly.

jk'n Agreed, gives Crown a black eye. Manufacturing is in the minute details.

jk'n Something like the distance between holes on the same panel should be pretty close during the manufacturing process. If the holes were on different panels - say for instance on the installation of rails - I can understand having to adjust a little to get them in. Newer vehicles should not have this problem as much as the tolerances from panel to panel should be a lot better than vehicles of 15 to 20 years ago. If the replacement hinges of a different brand fit perfectly then it points out the OP's correct advice not to purchase the ones that were clearly not manufactured with care. So my question to the OP is what brand replaced the shabbily made ones and did they fit perfectly? If they fit perfectly then warnings about the brand that didn't fit should be run up the flagpole.

MoBass Update New part showed in time. I agree sometimes you do have to modify parts. But in this case the windshield hinge is not something that I wanted to mod. Quad did cvome through !!!

I know it's disappointing to get a product from somewhere that doesn't fit 100% correctly, but you got to realize that every Jeep is shaped differently in some way. Sometimes you need to do a little modifying to parts to get them in. It's one thing to get a product that's completely off in it's design, and it's another thing to get something that's a smidge off, just saying.

kywaterman The sales rep prolly never see's the product just puts in the order and does paper work. The sales office and warehouse might be not even on the same grounds. Its a bummer that twice in a row the product was wrong but seems as though they did well of trying to make things right for you, hope the new ones works out well.

Quadertract Crown Black windshield hinges DON"T BUY!!!

Bought Black windshield hinges off of Quadertract. They are Crown product. We where mocking up the new windshield fram and found out the passanger side where drilled wrong off 1/8". Called quadertract they said no problem they would be shipping me new ones. I told the customer rep to measure the new onw and make sure they were not off. He said no problem. Go the new hinges WE HAVE A PROBLEM passenger side holes are off 1/8" Called them back told them to check there inventory of this brand that they are drilled wrong. They are sending me a differnet brand over night. I can not belive that they did not double check like I told them to so this would not happen agin. Overall they have been great to deal with. But dang! Shouldn't the rep told a supperviso about this and to check them?????? Hope the new ones are correct
