keg97 The hard drive is another huge "anti-theft" feature. No need for CD's or an IPod in the Jeep. The wifey has that on her Infiniti and it is sweet to just load a CD on there once and then always have access to it. A most definite cool feature!

jk'n Mine has the navi with all the bells and whistles. I totally agree about the clutter/theft issues. It is worth the upgrade price on the new car, me thinks mine was 1200 on the sticker. Never batted an eye on it. Love using it. I have used most of the features now. Got the hard drive almost filled up now. Went to maine last weekend with a bunch of boy scouts in the car. They played the music on the hard drive most of the trip. Can't say enough good about it. Super feature.

WhiteRAVE why can't you buy your own in-dash stereo. You can get some nice dual-din steroes for a lot less
05-04-2009 10:50 AM
GrNLnTRn I found my 2008 used with navi and the 7-speaker infinity already in it... and from what the dealer told me, is with all the incentives right now; you might be able to haggle a new one with the navi at no extra cost. But thats kind of dependent on a lot of things I guess.

All in all since they aren't going to change them for 2010... don't wait!! rock the JK now!!!

donnie FWIW, our 09 came with the builtin nav system. Also have a free year subscription to Sirus. Thats one of the reasons we got the one we did.
Being we re in Cali., Im going to take it back and have the U Connect activated shortly.

thaduke2003 Heck, I live in East Nowhere, and I still try not to even leave my empty wallet (stupid Jeep) in the Wrangler! A $150-400 GPS stuck to the dash, held in only by suction cups? No thanks

I may well be going aftermarket- there's a "ghetto customs" (as I like to call it- screens, navi, speakers/subs, tint and rims) shop right next door that I like, and the owner's cool, so he hooks me up Gotta see what gets me the best value per $, ya know? The MyGig alone is well worth the $. Touch screen is pimp As for navi, I have VZ Navigator on my phone that's never failed me, so meh Mark W.

AndyLA ^ Agreed......certainly worth the $ ---- Some built-in systems just suck, I have had several from Porsche to Mercedes (still own) and it is a truly mixed bag. I must say that I am very pleased with the DEPTH of the features of this unit. And yep....for a Jeep that never has its tops and sometimes its doors, I certainly wouldn't want a slew of expensive gadgets just sticking to the windshield as someone walks by......... especially in some cities.....
05-03-2009 07:55 PM
mntnclmbr Jeez you guys are making me want one of these things, I should have gottin one - I put over 1500 miles on a month and that would be great to have - I've got it my Benz (nav), but it doesn't have all the integrated stuff on it like this does.....Maybe I should trade? HUM!
05-03-2009 07:11 PM
keg97 One BIG thing with the Jeep navi is that it is built into the Jeep as opposed to a Garmin that is just begging to be stolen from a JK.
05-03-2009 05:41 PM
AndyLA ^ Cell phone speaker when you are driving with tops off (and/or doors) just aint going to cut it.... believe me. Ask me how I know...

The Jeep NAVI definitely with uconnect and VoiceRec is one awesome unit. It is extremely impressive and I would get it again, no doubt. I also got lifetime Sirius traffic updates, and they actually do work. When I meant a top of the line GPS, I meant the Garmin Nuvi, like the 785T or 885T....$400-500 units that are really worth the cost. It is so much nicer to have the MyGig system for lots of other fun stuff, like Lockpick mods to allow DVD playing and copying 30Gb of music without any hassles.

I guess I am so over having having to stick every gadget to the windshields....GPS, detectors, Satellite radios.....just so much cleaner on a new vehicle.

CNTLOSE I purchased a Tom Tom a year ago for around $139. No way would I spend $2k for one just because it is build into the dash...they will all get you to the same place. ...and my cell phone has speaker on it so I do not need the uconnect.

Just my .02
05-03-2009 11:17 AM
AndyLA I love mine........I would definitely get it again....I figured heck might as well get it loaded if I am buying the Jeep. That being said, I wouldn't spend $2k+ cash out of pocket on it if I didn't have it......I guess that makes sense..... Just get a top of the line Garmin Nuvi ---- those are incredible.
05-03-2009 10:25 AM
mntnclmbr is it worth the expense?
05-03-2009 10:22 AM
thaduke2003 Over $2k. The unit itself costs $2k something (I posted somewhere else on here- I don't have exact cost with me on my day off , then a couple hundred extra for the adapters and such for uConnect and iPod integration and so forth. Talk to your parts guy- you can install it yourself- it should come with instructions- Mark W.

Mntn, it can go either way with the navi. Adding it at the dealership costs more, though- Mark W.
I've been waitin for you to chime in on this one - Is the cost the dealers mark-up or just because they can? What does it cost, generally speaking to add it from dealer?

mntnclmbr [QUOTE=monkeygod;365906]less one with a nav.

Is Navagation a dealer add-on or is it from the factory?
05-03-2009 10:08 AM
mntnclmbr This is the computer generation, Yes he can look on his little puter and see just about everyone's stock...Make the bastard find you one, there's got to be a blue manual out there, somebody has one!
05-03-2009 10:05 AM
CNTLOSE Yes, all he does is insert what options you want into his computer. It will tell him what vehicles come close in a set area. He can then go over with you what he finds and what you might be intrested in. Then he contacts the dealer to check to see if they still have it, and if they are intrested in a dealer trade and for what.

monkeygod haha, thanks guys. I have a feeling I'm going to be on this forum a lot more often. I'm going to try not to wait and get one now. I would really like to get exactly what I want, but I've gone through almost every market in the US on jeep.com and I cant find a blue, manual anywhere - never-the-less one with a nav.
I'm starting to wonder what the dealerships I went to have access to in terms of national inventory. I literally found ever car they offered to bring in and sell me just through the website and I didn't call anyone. So if there's a hidden blue manual wrangler would the dealership even know without making a hundred phone calls?
05-03-2009 09:58 AM
CNTLOSE I bet your dealer does not have a car hauler and pays someone to drive it back. That is probably what he is reffering to not wanting it to get damaged. Which if he tells your not being charged for it, either he is only making a very small amount on the Jeep or he is lying to you and covering up the cost some how.

I would go talk to another dealer and see what they can do for you. Heck you might be able to get them in a bidding war.
05-03-2009 09:44 AM
mntnclmbr That would work too......Already have a bad taste in your mouth with this one!
05-03-2009 09:41 AM
donnie IMHO, Id find another dealer that has what you want.
05-03-2009 09:27 AM
mntnclmbr No you shouldn't wait!!!!!! Make the Bastard find one for ya!
05-02-2009 07:19 PM
RatherBNarizona yeah I used to work for a Nissan dealer
we transported cars all the time, usually between Tucson and Phx (over 150 miles) at no charge to the customers

He wouldn't go more than 100 miles away because he was concerned that there would be dings from rocks during transport that he would have to have fixed before I would accept delivery.

I didn't get the $500 discount, but I got him to order me the tow package (free) and free oil changes for 2 years. So it was a nice compromise.

I guess it all depends on how desperate they are to sell a car.
That just BS. My dealer offered to get me a Jeep anywhere. He said that anything inside of 600 miles, he would cover any costs to deliver and beyond that we would have to see what the charges might be. Dings and rocks? Aren't cars transported every day on open carriers in bulk for some pretty high-end manufacturers? I mean I had my sports cars shipped in closed transport, but wouldn't think a JK would suffer major damage.

Make em find you the Jeep you want, like the previous poster said....
Make certain that you are totally happy, after all it is yours.......
and you will be paying on it for quite some time....
05-02-2009 06:31 PM
CNTLOSE Black Rubi's are all they have around here...if they have any at all. I would get the black if you like it. Usually, not always but usually, prices go up 3% every model year. Also who knows, maybe Chrysler will be in good shape next year and not be offering all these special pricing deals. Also Wranglers typically never get big incentives because of their popularity.
But if your not happy with black wait, or buy a used one. It sucks to spend $30k on a car that you ended up unhappy with.

jeepmiller09 You want blue can't your dealer find you a blue one and just have it transported there?? That is how i was able to get a Rock Red Jeep. My dealer brought it down from WI into IL for me no charge. I am sure your dealer could do the same they need the sales. lol
05-02-2009 05:04 PM
AndyLA Yeah, support the family while the getting is good. Not going to be any changes or improvements I wouldn't think since I cannot imagine any expense during this pending financial crisis has been spent on R&D, fabrication and/or post-process design on existing and well-tooled models that are already in the production channel.
