66fordman Look for uv tolerant thread. It is used on boat covers etc. Very strong, weather resistant(important)

kywaterman Im no threadsrus but I would think the stiching would need to be quite strong as it'll be a lot of force from the wind driving down the road. Also the type of thread used would make a big difference. There might be some how to videos on youtube about convertable top upholstery that could be helpful.

Making a safari top

Last summer I replaced my old soft top. The old top was in fair shape except for the back corners.

What I want to do is make a summer top that ties down in the back. What I need to know is when I cut it to size in the back, how great does the sewing need to be? Had anyone tried something like this?
