|Lusus_Naturae||If you need to get inside the tailgate, the panel with the slots by that's about 4-8 inches can be pulled off and you will have access to the wiring and some of the tailgate.|

I removed the cover, but it didn't reveal much, it just covers the brake light cable, doesn't allow you to see into the tailgate.
However, further investigation revealed it was the tailgate itself that was rattling. I adjusted the striker plate so that it the tailgate sits firmly on it, and hard against the rubber stops, and the rattle is gone

Thanks very much for that. I thought there would be some kind of clips, but didn't want to try to force it until I had an idea which way to go.
Will give it a shot now.

Tailgate access panel removal
2009 Wrangler Sahara
I have a rattle coming from the back. I got my wife to drive around today with me in the back, and I think I have tracked it down - it appears to be coming from inside the tailgate.
How do I remove the black plastic trim panel that runs across the tailgate (inside the car), so that I can find out what's rattling?
Thanks in advance,
