Just thought I'd post my experience of the past 3 Saturdays of Jeep-hunting. Our experience was TOTALLY different! We walked away from 3 deals waited over a week and NONE of them ever called back! We ended up calling them back.
Two of them returned our calls and basically said that there was nothing they could do for us (we still wonder why weren't offered something with less features, because with our budget, it's something we could surely afford, but they didn't even TRY to sell us something less expensive!).
We both left messages with the other dealer who never bothered to call us back. I bet he's kicking himself because we saw him today when we finally bought our Wrangler (same dealership, different dealer).
Anyway, with the Wrangler we ended up buying, we spent a good 5 hours negotiating with the dealer we just met, and bought that day. Ended up with a $7000 discount (including the $3250 from the manufacturer) and the trade-in price was higher than we thought we'd get based on Black Book Value. Not as great as st1264's deal but still very happy consider what the past 2 weeks have consisted of!
So just thought I'd post our experience for other buyers. Between ours and st1264's, it's really hard to tell what to expect! We even had the "end of the month" on our side with the original dealers and nobody seemed to want to offer us a deal!

|Deep||Not sure where in Canada you are or what kind of Wrangler you're looking for... but I'm in southern Ontario and I just ordered a 2dr Wrangler Sport at the end of March I found a dealership in Mississauga offering 2013 Wranglers for $19995 plus tax only. I found that they occasionally advertized them at $18995. I contacted a local dealer and asked if they would match the price. They said $19995 plus some free oil changes was the best they could do. I got them to give me the premium soft top ($300) instead of the oil changes. I went with them (even though they were $700 higher) because of convenience (Mississauga is an hour away). So, do lots of looking around. I saw a dealership in Ottawa with a big banner saying they'd match any other dealers' prices.|

Each time I walked out they contacted me... Gas card was a limited time promotion from Chrysler and it put me over the edge to buy.
I made offers that I knew they'd refuse, then got their price. Then price matched at another dealer and played them against each other. Got to a point where they said NO, thereby finding the "lowest price". Once I got to that price, I knew there was no more wiggle room.
I jerked a few salesmen around, but it's just business and it's my money. I wanted the best deal possible. With these huge rebates, why wouldn't you buy a Wrangler? I'm in love with mine... just picked up my Spiderwebshade and KC foglights with brackets. AntennaX 14" billet antenna is on the way as well. Now I'm looking at wheels/tires

Wow, that seems like a deal! After each of the 3 times you walked out, did you end up calling them, or waiting for them to call you? And did you ask for the gas card?

Find out the model you like and go price match everywhere. Take about 10% off list price, subtract the rebates (look into the bonus cash & if you have an employee to sign for you). Must be willing to walk out of a deal or you'll overpay. That's my motto. I walked out 3x in negotiations. Search the going rate for your trade (if have one) and make sure you get it.
Shop around. Take a couple weeks and email/visit a bunch of dealers. It's worth saving thousands of dollars. Price match until you get them dropping the price until a breaking point is found... then you know where the lowest price is . This is when you are ready to buy.
I saved 11.88% off the top + $3250 + $2500 bonus cash + got trade value I wanted + got $750 gas card + dealer paid license + parents got $100 referral AND THEY STILL MADE MONEY! (They get kickbacks from the financing and I'm sure other methods of profit too).

We're going to 3 dealerships tomorrow. Definatly won't be buying tomorrow but will be gathering info. One guy already said he has a sale going on TOMORROW ONLY... I can only assume this is to make the sale happen right away.
I just read through carbuyingtips.com... Are there any CANADIAN sites that can help calculate the dealer's ACTUAL cost (not just the INVOICE)?

I have been negotiating over the internet with several dealerships, pitying one against the other to see how lower they are willing to go. The trick is to find 2 or more dealerships with very similar optioned jeeps that you would want.
I've been told there are a few improvements on the 2013's one of which is better seats.

Buying and Negotiating
Newbie here. I've been scouring the threads on negotiating tactics and I am determined to get a good price on my first Wrangler. It seems like the way to go (in the U.S. anyway) is to offer 3% below invoice price. Is it the same case here in Canada? They're currently offering a $3250 discount on the Wranglers... should I still be expecting another 3% off invoice price?
I'm also open to a 2012 but not sure which is the best way to go (New, or a 2012).
