Moabite Numerous threads on premature JK rust on here already...the search tool is your friend. Whatever can be said about it has already been said in the other threads.

rosendavidp Not the axles... I'm not sure what you mean by hubs. I'm sure its surface rust but still... It seems nuts to have rusty parts on a 2013 vehicle.

I'll take pics in the AM and post them.

Blackpony04 By metal "bits" do you mean the axles or hubs? Because they have notoriously poor paint coverage from the factory and are prone to "grow" surface rust rather quickly. The good thing is that they're made of cast iron so corrosion wont affect them but you can always hit them with a wire brush and spray some paint on them. I prefer POR-15 Chassis Coat over straight up Rustoleum but the choice is yours.

I don't know what a dealer will say but I suspect they'll say exactly what I just did. It totally sucks on a brand new vehicle so I understand why you'd be upset, especially considering how it seems to not be an issue with most manufacturers.

benjamin.allen There are topics on this seems to be common. Warranty most likely won't matter as surface rust is common under vehicles not all parts are treated or coated to prevent it

Rust!!!!!

8 month old JK and the metal bits going to both front tires are rusty.... What's up with this?!?!?!!!??

Wasn't able to see the back tires/bits yet as its dark here.

We went Offroad for 1st time today and I was getting the mud off the bottom and discovered it. So, the rust is from strictly driving on-road.

Should I bring it to dealer for warranty claim?
