Polishmagnum I got the Quadratop installed, and I really like it! Took some work to get it on of course, had to heat the garage to 75 degrees and get help, but very happy with it. Also order the tailgate bar and bracket kit, mine seemed to fit well, didnt have any issues with fit, and I'm not sure if they were labeled left and right. It was fairly intuitive which way they went I thought. My holes were stripped out, so I had to go up one screw diameter, but other than that, no issues.

Quadratop was a little different where it attached to the windshield channel, not quite cut like the instructions said it would be, but it worked fine nonetheless. Thanks for the help folks!

JeepJT04 I talked to a few buddies and they all said there's for right up. I am not sure my deal but I just decided to pick up new ones for $15.

erickpl Mine were kinda loose, so I bent them just a bit so that when I screwed them in, it held flush against the tub rails a lot better. Also, tap the holes where the screws go before you attach. If that metal is 'bowed' out a tiny bit, that little rise could make it not sit as solid as you'd like.

JeepJT04 No, mine say LH and RH. On them. But they just dot fit the body perfectly.

Polishmagnum Order the Quadratop yesterday in Spice for a dark green jeep. I havent opened the box yet but I will say this, they shipped that thing to my door in 24 hours FREE, after I mentioned this forum! So thanks for that folks! And Quadratec was helpful and the shipping was obviously lights out, so if the box has what it should in it, a very happy jeeper here!

erickpl Get the frameless top solution. Bestop Trektop NX or the Rampage top. Up down is pretty easy and converts to a safari top easily enough.

And yes, they sell the tailgate bar as a kit (bar plus 2 clamps to attach it)... not sure on pricing though.

Polishmagnum Oh, and do they sell this tailgate bar as a kit? Can I just get it as a unit?

Polishmagnum Thanks folks, told me all I need to know it seems! Thank you!

Neil F. Bestop makes the OEM fabric. They offer a Replace-A-Top which consists of skin and windows to put on your factory frame:

Top - Sailcloth
Next down - Standard weight fabric

Quadratec recently came out with their Quadra top to go on the factory frame. i can't say how good it is. Do a search. There are threads on it

Smittybilt also offers replacement fabric. Again, do a search for posts on quality.

You need a new tailgate bar that attaches to the rear window and the clips that attach to the tub on either side of the tailgate opening.

Jaxon1023 Quadratec quadratop 339 shipped with uppers for half doors. 309 shipped if you dont need uppers and the brackets are from the factory. It's for the tailgate bar that holds the top down and presses between those brackets and tailgate.

I just installed a new quadratop Tuesday night

97 Wrangler TJ Soft Top Questions

Hi folks, I need some advice on a top. I searched the forums, and it still seems rather cornfusing to me..I bought the TJ last summer, it had a dry rotted soft top. All else good. Removed top, never put it back on. Drove it when it didnt rain, parked in garage. So I want a top now. What I could gather from the forums, I want a top that folds down easily. I dont want something that is hard to fold down completely, guess I want it to operate like the OEM top, which is what I believe I had. I looked at the framework, seems I have OE framework, except at the tailgate! The previous owner did some hack job where he screwed two aluminum "brackets" to the top of the tailgate, then used some bar somehow. So I think I need some parts back there. I'd like to keep it ecomonical as possible, not a daily driver, so not super concerned about noise, etc..I lived for a year with no top at all, so I dont want junk, but not top o' the line either! If that makes sense. Help me out if you can folks, and besides this confusion, this forum has been a godsend over the last year, thank you all!
