|gecko4||If you were in Canada, you'd be out of the warranty period. Hopefully, Chrysler covers it beyond our 100000km (60000mile) warranty. I'll have to talk to my buddies at the dealership, see if they've done any beyond 100000k's|

Well they diagnosed my Jeep and ordered a new head. Should be here in a week. Has anyone had a 2012 with an AA left head that made it further then mine? 63,000 on odo but tires 10% large so 69,000 equivalent.
Also fwiw, I've put 400 miles on since the CEL and they said it will be fine to drive it until parts arrive so at least when it happens it doesn't leave ya sit.

|blackrubicon||2102 13k on it build date 12-11. Threw PO302 code for 3rd time in last 3 months. No tick no misfire. Suppose it's time to take it in. Chrysler should be embarrased as hell over this screw up. Henry Ford was building engines 100 years ago. Hard for me to understand how an issue with head could haapen. Not sure if its a error in manufacturing or engineering screw up. Needless to say I'm very unimpressed with the overall quality. But should have expected it after Chrysler took over.|

FWIW, my jeep has always been parked outside in a carport since new and almost never warmed up before driving. Granted I never rev it over 2000 rpm or so for the first 1-2 miles. I have run Schaeffer's full synthetic with moly ever since break in. Not sure that has helped or not.
I've changed oil and filter every 8k and with oil analysis done on every change for warranty reasons. Every analysis has come back with the recommendation to extend oil drains to 10k or more. Its used 5-6 days a week for mail delivery rain, shine, snow or cold. Not abused but never babied. Two winters with several weeks of sub-zero starts each winter. I Just turn the key and go.

I had just about 40,000 on mine before it threw a code and got the head replaced.
From what I was told, by two techs, if you let the jeep warm up and treat it nice, it will take longer for the issue to rear its head.
If your the one whe jumps in on a cold day and head out before the engine is warm and happy, the sooner youll be in for head replacement.
Again not my words, so take it for what its worth.

|BigManAndy||Was just thinking about this today. 2012 just rolled over 20k and no ticks and original heads.|

|xox.ilu.xox||I have a 2010 JKU and mine needs a new engine after it started making "lifter" noise. We took it in right away. Dealership says it needs a new engine. Been two weeks with no word from Chrysler Canada. Pisses me off. Just want my jeep back im having major widrawals.|

|demarpaint||I'd hope the thing failed early. I would not want a head with lets say 50,000 miles on one side of the engine and a brand spanking new head on the other side of the engine. JMO|

Well it finally happened. P0304 = misfire cyl #4 at 63,000. Approximately 3 weeks after I noticed the misfire at the tailpipe during idle. I've had the tick since below 20k. Headed to the dealer on Tuesday. I'm curious if it took more miles for mine because I used syn oil or because I live in a cooler climate or none of the above.
Edit: In reality its almost 70k since my tires are 10% bigger then stock.

|Frogy||I brought my Wrangler into the dealer today, they looked at and ordered the parts, the new head will go on next Monday|

Also got the multifunction switch on the left side of the steering wheel replaced as my windshield wipers would make a swipe or two when you used the right turn signal. LOL>

I had a MIL last weekend (P0306) and I cleared it because I hate seeing warning lights. After clearing the code I called my dealer to talk to them about getting in for service. My mistake, apparently they would not look at my vehicle unless there was a code present? Anyway it set another couple of codes this morning (P0300 and P0304) and I called the dealer to schedule a visit. The question I have now is that I would think that a cylinder #4 misfire would be on the right bank not the left bank? I did notice a couple people that have had heads replaced said that they had a P0304 as well? Just for informational purposes my Jeep is a 2012 2 door sport s manual with 28k miles.

They said the first thing they did was check the compression and noted it was failing so, new cylinder head it is!

I have a 13 built in Oct of 12. I got the P300 code with an O2 sensor code and a Cylinder 1 ignition circuit error. They cleared my CEL and the Tech needs to research my cylinder codes. When I brought it in it seemed to be running fine. It started on a Thursday ride home from work. CEL came on just before the driveway and she was idling real rough. My scanner also noted bank 2 Lean after a bit.
I then drove my Jeep for a week waiting for a Cel. Took it back for a seperate issue and on the way home the CEL finally came back which was last Saturday evening. Then on Monday the CEL went away and has yet to return.
Cat and mouse game for now it seems.
Aslo while at the dealer Chrysler required an ECU flash last Saturday. Apparently it was in the Tech notes for my particular model.

'13 JKU with 16,000 miles, gave me a P0300 and P0302 code the other day. Not sure of the build date but I bought it in September of '12 so it's probably the old head. Just got a call from the dealer, tells me he's replaced the spark plugs and coil and reflashed it (although it's already had the first reflash). So the dance has begun, I guess.
The twist is that I have an American-spec Jeep in Europe. Probaby the first one the local Fiat service center has seen.

|flyfish29||Yeah. I'm worried my 2012 with 22,000 miles will not throw the code until I head out West from NH to the Rockies in the hot summer of 2015. We just don't get the high heat here in NH. It will Probably happen in the plains of western Kansas near where my last major Jeep breakdown was in 1995. (Fuel leak on the way to Yellowstone. The jeep had less than 2,000 miles on it. )|

|siddious33||Sigh. I have a 2012 JK. Not quite to 20k miles and just got the P0304 code today when I got home. Will be calling the dealer in the morning to set up a time to go in and probably get the runaround. Great. Was looking forward to a weekend trip to the mountains this weekend too and now I feel like I can't take the JK.|
