Beefed up 8 speed on the way for 2014 wrangler as per motor trend

The 3.73 should be slightly more responsive around town.
Heated seats are great. They are available with or without leather.
I also have the saddle leather and love it. I find it easier to clean than cloth.
I like the auto temp control (it's only $155)
I like having remote start, but the range on the factory one is pathetic. I frequently have to be within 100 feet of my Jeep to get it to work.
Limited Slip rear is worth the money, especially if you spend time in snowy climates.
The Moab is Sahara based, the Oscar Mike is Sport based, but has many of the Sahara options.
You can easily add your own tow hitch and wiring. If you do, skip the four plug harness and go directly to the seven plug harness from Mopar. It might seem like overkill on a 2 door, but it also provides you with a hot wire to charge trailer mounted batteries. BTW my pop-up camper has a dry weight of 1200 lbs and a max GVW of 1995 lbs, within the 2 doors towing range.
The connectivity package is a must, regardless of which radio you pick.

|Hawk1||And, I have no idea about the 8 speed; the 5 seems fine to me.|

Blast! I really tried not to call it a car. Epic fail!
The heated seats were an omission on my part.
I will drop trailer/tow.
Leather is just a personal preference..... I have it now in heated/cooled form and I still do not love it.
After many test drives it seems the 3.73 is peppier around town. Am I imagining this?
No nav for me...I never go far.

Have you done much reading on the 2014? Is it coming with the newer 8 speed auto? You may actually WANT a 2013.

1... I would not consider one without the limited slip. It's a Jeep and actually should have 4 wheel drive. No LS and you just really don't.
2... Save some money and skip the Nav if one shows up with that. It's has very poor screen definition. A $200 Garmin is way better.
3... Consider the leather. It is easy to keep clean and after having both, I think it will hold up better. Also check out the saddle color if you do consider leather. It looks great with white (it's what I have) and is probably the best for staying clean and new looking over the long run.
4.. I don't care for the 'climate control'. That is absolutely not necessary in one of these.
5... Consider the white painted top. My previous Jeep had the standard black and in the sun on a warm Arizona day it was like having a heater over your head. With the cold air on full blast out of the dash and the heat radiating down from above I'm surprised it didn't start a mini thunder storm in there. With the white matching top that is no longer an issue.

Add heated seats
Dump Tow package (cheaper to add your own hitch and harness)
You may want to dump Climate Control as well....some like it, some find it buggy.

I will be in the minority here but if you do not plan to tow or do any significant offroad - bigger tires etc. - you may want to look at the 3.21 gears in lieu of the 3.73's
I ONLY say this because you will see increased fuel economy with the 3.21's over the 3.73's. If you plan to wheel it or tow with it, ignore that but something to consider for the uses you describe.

My only advise would be to keep your eye on some of the special editions. Most of them are based on the Sahara. The White Special Editions are pretty neat...Moab, Oscar Mike, etc. For some reason those look really good in White.
There are also rumors floating around of additional special editions. Maybe a 2014 Altitude, Alpine, Trailhawk, Renegade or Golden Eagle.
Oh, and good luck with passengers. I took my back seat out and nobody cares, I think they like riding back there even more. Especially if they have pups.

I read this website all the time and find all of the topics and conversations very useful – not to mention comical.
I am in the process of finally deciding to order a new Wrangler. I will never be in the path of paternity, do not drive any great distances, and always end up driving with friends as I have a “big comfortable sedan.” I cannot wait to say "Sorry - I have a Jeep and the backseat is in storage."
My plan is to order a two door 2014 white exterior/black interior (cloth) Sahara with the following options:
Dual Top (two black tops)
Automatic Temp Control
I am in absolutely no hurry, and will keep this car for a long time. When I buy another car down the road, I will probably keep the Jeep around. I love the 2013's so I am hoping Jeep will start building the 2014's in July and will be the same as the 2013's. Dealers cannot find this exact Jeep at a dealer within 250 miles, and being in no hurry and basically May, I figure I might as well wait a few more weeks to order. I will have the Tread Lightly discount (thanks for that..). The limited slip and trailer/tow I would be fine without, but dealers still cannot find the Jeep sans those options.
Taking the Jeep off road will be a rarity. I had a Wrangler in the past and want to get back to an American vehicle - and this is one of few for which I have any great affinity. Meaning, you all will say I only drive it in the mall parking lot!
Any advice on this model, options, etc., would be appreciated.
