Sinister6 Rampart is OPEN from Woodland park north!

Contact FOREST SERVICE and tell them you want it opened from Springs to Woodland Park!

CoreyZ the north part of the road is closed but there is still plenty of the road open.

Timberline I thought Rampart Range Rd. was still closed down from the Waldo Canyon fire last year?? You can also check out the area of Rainbow Falls just outside Woodland Park north on HWY 67.

Oberst Hajj Thanks everyone. I’ve been up Rampart out of the Springs many years ago. Is it closed from the Springs permanently now, or due to snow or the fire? Looks like we will be going on Sunday afternoon if anyone wants to go out for an easy drive with some first timers.

joeuncool Rampart Range Road outside of Woodland Park is a great place to go. Lots of easy little side roads and trails to explore the hills and woods. I would avoid it for a while with the snow we had. Some of the trails get back in the trees and can retain ice for some time.
If you are not familiar with Rampart Range Road (it is closed out of the Springs) Turn at the McDonalds in Woodland Park and follow that road up into the mountains.

CoreyZ To be honest, the run we made a couple weekends ago at Illinois gulch would be perfect. Can hit the 2 sides of moab hill and enjoy the scenery.

jagerhelix China wall is pretty good too. Stock Jeeps can run it but still really fun for modified.

Sinister6 Take Rampart Range rd, plenty of turn offs that range in fun to kinda challenging. Nothing crazy...
Use caution if you don't have a winch, ice can make a fun day into a recovery situation very quickly! Find someone to go with you...

First time trials near Colorado Springs?

I would like some suggestions on a few first time trails in the Colorado Springs area. We just picked up a 2012 Rubi Unlimited (4” lift and 35s) and I love to take the family out for an easy (and not very long) first time trip. Something that will not scare the wife and kiddos, but exciting enough to make them want to do it more. Anything close by that meets those requirements?
