|Red04Cobra||Mine does the squeal, and then does that chrip. No idea what either is, but sounded similar to what someone else posted earlier.|

|MrMurph||Yeah, if the water pump completely grenades, you won't be able to pump water through the radiator and engine block, and your engine will overheat. (rather quickly). That can cause major damage, most likely a warped cylinder head or blown head gasket etc.|

|DallasJKU||What happens if the water pump completely goes??? Am I stranded wherever that happens??|

This is the video I shot with sound. Does this sound like water pump??
Well I can't figure out how to post a video.

|Chad s||Just had mine replaced and they didn't remove my grill.|
|11-15-2013 07:05 AM|
Question, do they have to remove grill to replace water pump? My winch is up so tight against grill, that it's a challenge getting to off. If yes, I'll take off before going to dealer for replacement.

Put me on the list too I think. I was at work today when I had a guy come by and start talking with me. The Jeep was running and we both stopped mid conversation when it started chirping. So frustrated... I had a 2005 TJ that never had any issues and I traded it for this piece.
The dealer had known me for years at least, I hope I won't have issues. Tomorrow I guess I'll be stopping by to get it checked.
I have a list I'm working on since I use the Jeep for work and really can't go without it very long.
On the list - trans line recall, front right brake line rusting out, waterpump chirp, pass. rear tail light taking in water in the rain from the lens.
The dealer has the brake line waiting in my box already, I wrapped the trans line awhile back so not too worried there, but the other stuff hasn't been brought up yet.

Finally found a dealership in AR that is worth my time. It helps to take the service ladies out for margaritas, by the way. Just sayin...
Only took a minute of a ride-along before the chirp came back, and they ordered the new pump immediately. Outpatient treatment when it arrived, too easy!

|DallasJKU||I have this chirping sound. I assumed it was a belt. Very intermittent. I will wait for it to be more consistent or fail before I take it in.|

|Supperfast||Just got my recall done on the ps trans lines and they replaced the water pump too.. Seams to be ok will just have to wait and see...|

Picked mine up tonight from getting the recall done and the water pump. I heard the water drop/moving noise as soon as I drove off the lot. Very disappointed they rushed and did not burped the system. I stopped to turn around but thought it would be a waste of time. I'll fix it myself. I've changed 4 water pumps and 2 radiators on 6 different times during my life and never had this issue. These guys getting paid good money working on $30K vehicles can't get it right....
Frustrating. Hopefully I won't hear the chirping anymore.

The only time I've herd mine was when I'm wheeling .. So I have a appointment sat to get the ps lines done and I told them the water pump was going out and the said they would check it..
I guess if they don't fix it I'll have to wait till it's doing it all the time or they recall it witch ever comes first...

|Chad s||Not on recall. Stopped by today and spoke with service rep and told him what the issue was and told him it was water pump. He said ok bring it in next week. He already knew and didn't even need to hear it|

|Supperfast||Is the water pump on recall ? My steeler ship said they haven't herd of it . And they have plenty in stock..|
|11-05-2013 10:01 AM|
|Chad s||Guess i will be taking mine in as well. 2013 with 5000 miles|

Appointment made for today to drop off the jeep and the will replace the pump, gasket and do the recall on the power steering pump.
This time they said they will be able to set up a rental for me. I'll see when I get there.

|Sueby||For those of you with recurring problems after having the water pump replaced - did they do a coolant flush when they replaced it?|

|nekojku||I park in a parking garage both at home and at work. In the parking garage it echoes so the 'rusty hamster wheel' noise is even louder. I hate the noise from a new Jeep. But I REALLY hate that my dealership cannot duplicate the noise...GRRR!|

I had my water pump replaced. About 2 weeks later, the noise was back. It does seem to come after its been running for at least 30 minutes or working a little harder. Extremely annoying. Then my coolant was low after it was replaced. I took it back to have them check for leaks, and they said they found none and had it topped off (according to paperwork), well 2 days later I check it, and the coolant is really low. Doesn't seem to be leaking, but sucks that they didn't top it off to the max or appear to have even touched it.
It is kind of embarrassing to be with a group and your vehicle is making that loud annoying noise. It's like you're driving a 40K clunker. What am I to do though? They'll replace it again and it'll whine again. I've got too much money in this thing to consider other alternatives.

|Supperfast||Have they changed the water pump to fix the problem or is Chrysler still putting the same pumps on? I have 13 JKUR with 5500 miles and mine only chirps when I go wheeling so I wanted to wait till they fix it and not replace it with the same pump|

The Jeep is my first Chrysler product, was always a GM owner. Hope this is the end of the problems and I don't start regretting the switch.
I have to say though, I wrote an email to the CEO of Chrysler about these things and one of his staff got in touch with me and was very generous and helpful.
