HK_Runner I love the hardtop but I sure wish they could have made that wiper motor a bit smaller, given how small the windshield is and how big tires are. It's about the size of a shoe box.

If its not on your build sheet it'll never be covered by warranty no matter who makes it. But yes it is mopar. A simple switch panel tends to be pretty reliable tho

chipmonk66gt I looked at the install instructions and I think you would need to be reasonably handy to make it happen. It wasn't really worth it to me. I

BiteTheBillet Awesome. Thanks for the replies. it just doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't just wire all of them. Seems kind of silly to have to manufacture and parts bin two different items, rather than just fit each vehicle with the same. I can't see it costing them much more from the manufacturer standpoint. I probably will eventually end up adding it, because I'm kind of a stickler for these things. I'm in Jersey, where we get all kinds of crazy weather and the wiper does help, especially for me who doesn't really see well in the rain. i like to be able to tell if those are cop lights behind me

jkjeeper06 I don't have my hard top wired but I'm happy with it. I live far enough north that we rarely get slush. Would I like the wiper? Probably, but I just haven't felt like installing everything

However, the kits are $150ish on quadratec. You can install it yourself, but it won't work until you pay the dealer $50 to flash your computer to accept it. Unfortunately you can't do that on your own. It's not that bad of a price tho compared to what it could be.

My suggestion is try the top without the wiring kit. If its ok then jeep that $200 for mod money. If you want it then go for it

Abnormal-JK Heh... I'm trying to figure out how to get rid if the rear wiper off mine...

chipmonk66gt I had the dealer switch my soft for a hardtop. I want a softtop now - go figure. I don't have the controls. You can't really see out the back anyway......

cavsvet74 Soft top only Jeeps come from the factory without wiring nor controls for the rear wiper/defroster.

The good news is, the wiring harness and control stalk are available aftermarket.

Hard top retrofit.

I did a search and couldn't come up with anything, then again, I'm terrible at research. haha
I purchased a new JKU Sahara about a week and a half ago. ABSOLUTELY love it !!! Mine came with the soft top, and I figured, no big deal, I'll just buy a hardtop before winter. It rained here in Jersey the other day and I was curious about where the rear wiper controls were. I couldn't find them and when I consulted the manual, it said they were to be on the right stalk (kind of what I expected). So, now I am wondering what I'm gonna do about operating a rear wiper once I install the hard top? Is there a cost effective way to retrofit the controls, or is it a huge pain? I do LOVE my rear wipers and already miss having it, because I just have the soft top now. I don't understand why Jeep would not just put the controls on every model, due to the fact that so many people switch tops throughout the vehicle life. I did see an access panel on the left rear that had indicators for rear washer and wiper. I didn't take it off, because I just assumed everything was prewired. What am I up against, here? I do have to admit, I'm kind of annoyed about this.
Thanks in advance !!!
