I was looking at that one and I was thinking with that one if I didn't get the Jerry cants I could prob modify it to hold my soft doors. I was looking at the Gen right cause it keeps the tire closer to the body but thats still a good option.

Body Mount VS. Bumper Mount swing out tire carriers

So I have been debating for a while on which rout to go as far as a Swing out tire carrier. I have been back and forth between a Body Mount or a Bumper mount tire carrier.

Somewhat of background; I have an 03 Tj Only 2.5" lift and 1" body lift. I'm running 33x12.50" Duratracs. The jeep is my daily driver but I do medium to light wheel when I get the chance (right now only a couple times a year but would like to do more)

I have been back and fourth between:
T
he Genright Swing aware tire carrier
Rear Tire Carrier for the Jeep TJ or LJ

The JCR Deluxe tire carrier
JcrOffroad, Inc. Wrangler Rear Deluxe Tire Carrier Bumper (CJ YJ TJ)

Or Building my own

I have been kind of listing pros and Cons I can think of minus price.

Pros:
Body Mount: More points of Connection, No weight on the bumper, and closer to the body, could work with any bumper.

Bumper Mount: Seems easier to customize for add-ons, Would be easier to make my own, Less drilling into the body, easier to open.

Cons:
Body Mount: Seems like it would be hard to customize to add Jerry cans or a High lift, won’t be able to use my Bike carrier(not a big deal)

Bumper Mount: Seems like it would be heavier, only 2 points of connection, Further from the body and top heavy, More weight on the bumper, limited bumper choice.

This is just a couple things that I have thought of, Idk what is your opinion as far as a tire carrier goes?
