|A_Kuminski||Not sure if there better for protection or not, but it kinda makes sense that they would be. They stick out, which is kinda a plus cause it will keep rocks further away from body? Can also be a decent winch point when you roll it?|

|Water Dog||I use mine for protectection. They also provide a place to jack from. As far as a step goes, they're pretty useless...too high.|

I have Rokmen sliders, but I should have saved up a little more and went with the Savvy sliders. The Rokmens are beefy and made well, but I think the Savvy sliders are a better design with the layered armor of 3/16 aluminum and 3/16 rail with a small step. The tube on my Rockmens are too high to be a functional step but do a good job of keeping my Jeep away from trees and rocks on the sides.

|callbob||Which ones do you have is in about 30 other threads. The OP was asking about the benefits of the bar/step. O_M_Jeep had the right answer. More protection than just a flat surface.|

I run BrooksCustomConcepts sliders with the rail, they are extremely stout and not extremely expensive. I do use the rail as a step, however there are better reasons to have them.
Trees almost always lean the wrong way and rocks arent flat.

Just put the smittybilt ones on last night
I personally like the look of the step. Also it could be used for more side protection if you slid into something. I love the smitty ones though. Solid and half the price of any others.

Another rock slider thread
Yes another rock slider thread. My question is in regards to buying sliders with bars/steps or not. So here goes... do sliders with bars/steps provide more protection, or use as a step or just look better? Im looking at getting some but not sure which to get. I have about 4" of lift and Im 6.1" so I dont think I would use it as a step, so what is the other benefits of the bars if any?
