Howdy all. We have a TJ in Flame Red and a JKU in Rock Lobster. I love the new color. Many times the reds both look the same. But on a sunny day the RL really looks it's best. It's electric. I see it has it's haters, but honestly I think it's people who just don't have the personality to pull it off. My best Jeep waves come from Geckos, Crushes, Cosmos and Detonators. They get it. If you're shy, neutered, or can't park at the golf range on a Tuesday afternoon without catching flack, you'd better just stick with silver/white/black.
The following is from a Forbes article by Matthew de Paula, and I think it explains what you see with RL best:
“Colors were more flat 20 or 30 years ago, so we now have a lot more what we call ‘travel,’ where a color looks very bright from one angle and dark from another. This trend is starting to spread from neutral tones to bright colors. Using white primer as a base underneath the paint to make hues of all kinds brighter is another trend on the rise."
To me, RL is Flame Red with with dash of Crush and a white primer to give it "travel." Glad I got mine while it was available.

Here's my baby:
I thought I'd also post this picture of my Surprise Straps. I thought it would be hard to get a good color match with Rock Lobster since I was afraid plain red would be more like "Flame Red". So, I ordered straps with plain Black on the outside and "Black Widow" on the inside. I think the black helps to tone down the red to a good match with Rock Lobster. I'm really happy with the result:

The first one is in Sedona on Broken Arrow trail, a very popular scenic trail frequented by the Pink Jeep tours.
The second two are outside of Flagstaff - Chocolate Falls (Grand Falls), it rarely flows in the summer. Rain water from the NE Arizona desert flows through the Painted Desert, collecting mud along the way. Unsigned and hidden on the Navajo Nation, it is bigger than Niagara Falls - it is a site to see!

Here is my Rock Lobster Wrangler JKU. With the lighting it looks more orange, kind of reminds me of the original color of the General Lee, which was called flame red, but looked more orange. Now just trying to find a theme for the build.

I beleive tht it needs to have rock rash, mud, pinstripes or tire crawls under its belt before the badass stamp can be applied....
But he has only had it less than a week... But right now, it is gorgeous
