Well you will find the weather a bit milder and not muggy up here in Oregon. And lots of beautiful places to explore. As far as Rubicon versus Sport, there are lots of threads here on that. But the consensus is that hardly anybody ever regrets getting a Rubicon and many who didn't now wish they had. That would be especially true if you are not mechanically savvy. Building up a Sport can be costly and fraught with error if you don't know what is needed and what works with what. I have a 2 door Rubi and it is the most fun I have ever had behind the wheel (in the front seat anyway ). A stock Rubi will do a lot of offroading out of the box. You can always modify later if you find that is what you want (see below).
You didn't directly mention modification beyond lifting, but once you get a Jeep it comes with an incurable disease known as modding. You will never run out of things to modify as you personalize your Jeep. You will say "that's the last thing" and then shortly thereafter Brown Santa will be at you door with another mod.
The new models usually appear for delivery around July as I recall, or close to that. Not much new is expected, and you may be able to get a better deal on a 2013.
As to a lift, it really depends on what you plan to do or if you just want to be a mall crawler but look badass. If you will be doing serious rock crawling then you will not only need a lift, but bigger tires too. The lift only raises the body, not the undercarriage. It allows for the big tires. After about 2-3 inches of lift you start getting into serious mechanical geometry issues that require lots of additional equipment to correct for the lift itself. Others can detail that, and there all kinds of threads on here about tires and lifts. The other issue is driveability. A serious offroad monster is not the greatest daily driver. My advice- live with your Jeep awhile first. Learn from sites like this and other Jeepers (there is an active club here in Oregon and SW Washington). Then you will know better what you want and what the tradeoffs/costs are before doing something you will regret later.

New and no experince
I thought it would be best to try to fully embrace Jeep Wrangler passion if I'm going to buy such a relatively expensive vehicle for me.
I don't have any mechanical experience, nor do I have a father or friend that has mechanical knowledge to help me out.
I'm 25 and live in Texas, but am thinking about moving to Oregon. I'm underemployed at the moment, but I don't want to wait till I'm old to buy a jeep.
I'm thinking about buying a 2013 rubicon 2door, but I have a few questions before I do; like: when is the 2014 expected out? is it hard to have leather seats put into a lower edition like the Sport? what are some pros and cons of the rubicon vs sport? is a lift worth getting, and if so, how high?
If anyone could help me out and share some wisdom, I would appreciate it a lot.
