|mdutton||I have ordered some Drop kick Slyders but I am afraid they maybe too high to work well as steps. The stock Jeep step like you have would be nice but I think they may look strange with the gap created by the body lift.|

|mdutton||That looks really sharp, quite a change. Did you have the step to start with and did you do a body lift?|

Got the Jeep back today and it looks and drives great. Only one day but I drove about 75 miles total. I will keep you updated on the outcome after more time with it, but initial feedback I have is great. I measured and with the tires and the Lift installed, I am now sitting about 5 3/4" higher than before as measured by the wheel wells I took before and after. You can see the before in my Avatar so it is an amazing difference. I will try and get a more detailed write-up but here is the first picture.

I had a change of plans. after talking to the dealer who has done installs of several different brands, I ended up going with the 3" BDS kit with the 5500 shocks. Other than what came with the base kit, I added a front steering stabilizer from BDS. It is being installed now and should be done tomorrow. I talked with my local dealer who has experience with these and told me they hold up well. I am not going to do anything extreme on purpose and felt for me, this gave me the best lift for the buck.
I will let you know my thoughts after getting it back.
I was not comfortable installing myself, nor did I have the tools, time or a friend that I know that could help. My local dealer was great to walk me through several choices including OME and never really badmouthed anything.
I appreciate all the dialog here as it helped me as well. Pics to come.

|spencerlj||this is great advice and exactly what I wanted to know. I am never afraid of a challenge but I may seek professional help with this. Thank you mdutton.|

Yes that is the kit I ordered and installed. I am a service manager and was a mechanic by trade. The kit is not too bad to install but I have a complete set of tools including air tools. It is key to have a heavy duty floor jack with a high lift capacity. Mine has 21" of lift. Patience and time as both good to have. Mine is not a daily driver so I did it over 3 weekends. I wanted to enjoy the wrenching. If you do not have much mechanical experience you may want to have a mechanic install it to avoid frustration.
If you are not in a hurry and want a mechanical challenge it maybe fun for you to tackle. It would be good if you had a a friend with mechanical abilities that could help you out.

|spencerlj||@lutzkanin @mdutton I am considering the same lift you both just installed. I am concerned with the DIY install myself. what can you share about the installation process. what wen well, what was difficult. anything you can share would help me determine whether I should tackle this myself or leave it to a mechanic. just to confirm is this the kit you ordered? My springs and shocks are on back order! :/
but I threw the body lift and motor mount on I figured things would be a little tough so I've been spraying things down every other day

|mdutton||Body lift went well today even started on the rear suspension. Definitely spray all the bolts down with PB Blaster as soon as you can especially the upper bolts the rear shocks|

You got that right
I'm still waiting for my kit!!

|mdutton||Dirk is a helpful guy. It was a much better experience than ordering online for some big company. I ordered the same kit and everything has arrived except for the upgraded Brown Dog motor mounts. Will be starting the body lift today. Finally made a decision on wheels and tires this week. We will have to share our progress.|

just ordered my lift!!
Just got off the phone with dirk from DPG off road. I ordered the ultimate kit! Dirk took his time, and made sure I got the right set up for my jeep! Unlike other dealers, he doesn't just give the option of hard springs or soft springs from OME, he has 14 different setups for tj's alone!
I definitely recommend dirk and his products!
I'll be getting pic's up as soon as it all gets here!
