Douglas Wray Great thread... Although I have an 07 Sahara I just removed my glove box and behold... a lot of papers from previous owner sucked up against the inside air intake screen... No wonder my recirculation air was not working correctly!!!
Thanks for the advice... Now to find a way to get filters in...

That "drum" you are referencing is not the filter. That is the recirculate door. When door is down, you get outside air. When door is up you get recirculated air from the inside.

The filters are below and behind that door, and are always filtering whether the door is up or down.

Zedr2 Gotcha, I think but the 'climate control' option does make sense ..

Also, unless I'm just not understanding what you are saying, I believe, the cabin air filters / 2 in the side by side carrier do filter allowed (when you are not using recirc) incoming air all the time as all incoming air passes through the cradle.

Important..... I was unclear in the info above. Just to clarify, all JK's, 2011 and newer have the cradle for the in cabin air filter cartridges. Not all JK's.

MOABLTY Sweet write up, was wondering about this a long time now. And the video and all. You people are great. Now I have to go check behind the glove box. Who knows what I'll find there...

Nope, a no can do with a single filter. Take a look see at the carrier and access to it and you will understand why.

The filter assembly/cage is the same on all of them. If you got the auto climate, the filters come installed from the factory. If you get standard climate, the cage is empty and you can install the filters yourself following the video in this thread.

Plasticpirogue Just plop the filters in your base or "S" and viola', you have filtered cabin air! Cool, eh?

CharlesS Checked the area behind the air damper and found no filters in my '11 Sport S (produced in Feb '11).
Checked the local autoparts stores.... The prices varied $20 for the chinese filters to $50 at the dealer for OEM. The dealership had them, but ALL of the autoparts stores said that they were a special order item (5-7 days out). O"Reillys wanted $24.99 plus tax plus shipping for a total of $38.
Went online to RockAuto; they had them for $17.00 plus $5 shipping.
Ordered a set of (2) Wix 24302 for the above price.
