|Jerry Bransford||I'm back & forth on whether I'll go with steel tube fenders. One the one hand they give more clearance and they look outstanding. On the other hand, they have been responsible for a lot of tweaked tubs when hit hard enough on the trail. They've caused the tubs to get tweaked so hard that the hood no longer closes square to the fenders any more, or sometimes even the doors no longer open & close properly. This problem isn't likely to be a concern on anything but a very tough 5 or 5+ rated trail but...|

Whiterhino, not bad, kindof along the lines of the Poision Spider style.
When looking into them see what the installation instructions say... such as direct bolt on, any cutting required... does it keep the stock inner fender, is a aftermarket air intake required... etc.
Being that it's for a CJ, I'm assuming it has a carb and regular air cleaner.

Has anyone made their own Tube Fenders? I have a machine shop, and they don't look incredibly hard.......
Also, Could you simulate "tube" or "flat" fenders by cutting the front off the stock fenders? if that makes sense...

Nope no issues here in OH or PA so far.
I believe most state laws around here are as long as half the tire is covered, so it depends on your tire width as well.
I believe out west it's even more flexible from what I've heard from some

I dont really even need tube fenders, I just want them...bad. I just put on the smitty flares, I figure by the time Im done ripping them off in the trails maybe Ill have a few bucks saved for the tubes>
Anyone gettin any crap from the "Man" about not having proper tire coverage, meaning, proper flares.

I bought the build it yourself kit from sniper fab, they came out great and have them primered and coated with duplex bedliner in a spray can. I am running the side marker and signal from gen right.

|jdhallissey||I want tub fenders too. Scout your saying the 4.5in are too big? What would you recommend?|
|05-07-2009 11:31 PM|
Treks also with the 4.5" flare. The quality is outstanding. The only regret I have is I wish I had waited and gotten a smaller fender flare. At the time the 4.5" was the smallest available.

Whose got them? Where'd you get them. Got any pics?
I found this website...
Metal Fusion - TJ Tube Fenders
it was the first result on google search.
Anybody have any info on the smittybuilt tube fenders, I like them cause there available with a 3 in. flare. Makes them a little more street friendly.
Got any good links or suggestions???
