|sesak||Well it seems mine is the Supertop NX... Which appears it will be an easier install|

|Gixxer86g||As mentioned here, and not in the Supertop directions, is having tension on the top to get the front header in. Put the rear corners in first.|

|Dep863||I HATE taking the top off and its even worse putting it back on!! But its worth it when cruisin|

|s14sh3r||Yeah, the Supertop and the Supertop NX are different tops. The hardest thing for me to figure out was how to put it down. There are no directions for that, and no videos that I found. I finally figured out how to fold it up pretty neatly.|

|Scout0718||all soft top first time installs should list beer as one of the required materials for install.|

Yep. It's the rail staying in the header channel that's causing all the grief.
I have a Bestop Safari top. When I first put it on over 5 years ago, I had the same problem.
It always helps to have a little tension on the top to keep the rail seated during install.
Also never store it with the rail on the top folded. Keep it flat. I started storing it flat a few years ago, and it stays in the channel much better every spring.

|umake||Oh, didn't know that. Thought one was sailcloth and one wasn't. Make sense then with all the trouble. Those new plastic header strips for bikini tops & safari tops are a PITA to get them to stay in the channel.|

iirc, the Supertop NX is a different animal than the original Supertop.
It has latches on a header attached to the top, like a factory top, vs header bar and channel.

Crazy, I had my Supertop NX on in like an hour and a half. Thought it was a simple install. I didn't use the paper directions that came with the top though.
Bestop did a really good video install...just watched that and had it on in no time.

|smontesi81||I just put mine on for the first time this weekend. The install was not a good time. The directions were awful and it took two of us almost 5 hours to complete. I haven't taken it down yet because I am scared I won't be able to get it back up myself. I have a feeling ill be sticking to the sunrider feature mostly.|

|Rayko||I have mine for about 3 years. The first few times putting it up can be frustrating. After you've done it a while it's a lot easier.|

|s14sh3r||Same experience here. Now that I've had it a couple years, it's no problem to put up and down by myself. Once the temperature here hits 100+, I leave the top part up and run with the windows out.|

|sesak||When I first saw this thread I was really concerned because I just got my new Bestop Supertop delivered yesterday. Happy to see it works out well in the end!! Any tips for when I install it for the first time this week??|

I've only had experience with the leading edge on bikini tops, but it's the same plastic strip as the leading edge on your Supertop.
When new, the strip can be difficult to insert in the groove in the header but after time it conforms to the shape it needs to be and becomes a lot easier.

Here's an update.
I took the top down last Sunday. It was really easy to put back up. Maybe 10-15 minutes. Once you get used to it, it's really quite simple.
I like the way the Supertop has multiple zippers for each window. Overall, I'm quite happy with this top. So sometimes you can't go by first impressions.

This is a complete Supertop, w/ hardware. It doesn't use the latch setup a stock top does. it uses the same "groove" setup as the rear corners and quarter window lowers.
We'll see if I made a bad decision with this top as the season progresses.

|PiePuncher||I'm sorry, wrong top. The safari top is also a pain in the ass|
|04-21-2013 03:57 PM|
|PiePuncher||Put the center strap on first, it will help. Putting the top on is Hell. Still takes me a while to get it on, so I try my best to leave it on|
|04-21-2013 03:57 PM|
|Gixxer86g||I got it to go, Jerry. I got it started, put weight on the top to make a little tension, then hooked on the rears. After that I was able to complete the front. It's still not an easy install.|

|Jerry Bransford||Are you waiting until the front is completely installed before inserting the rear corners into the tub rails?|

Bestop Supertop install hell
I just got a new Supertop w/ hardware. I can't get the top to stay in the windshield header. It pops out no matter what I do. It seems like the plastic that fits into the channel is too long by .25 inch on both sides. I pushed the header forward during installation. What am I missing. Running out of daylight.
