It depends if you're into audio or not. I tried both out on my test drives and bought the vehicle with the base stereo system in it because if I swapped audio in, everything would be ripped out anyway.
Just by reading your question, I think you'll be happy with the Alpine. It is better than the base. Guys wanting better quality audio are not happy with the Alpine upgrade as there is much better stuff out there. I suggest you listen to both and decide. I have uConnect and haven't used it. Connectivity group is worth it for the Vehicle Information Center, in my opinion. Sirius is a total waste.

Again, it's your Jeep, you decide on what you want...

Looks to be. The OEM tweeters can be accessed by removing their grill. The replacement tweeters have an inline crossover, and connect to the factory wireing. The worst part is trimming the OEM location to accomodate the new tweeters, but seems to be easy enough.

AllBlackEJK Alpine system is ok and IMO worth the small upgrade cost. If you've never been into audio and are just looking for something that sounds decent with all around average sound you may be satisfied with it. If you've ever had a car with aftermarket audio systems in it or are used to driving a typical car with better noise isolation and a quiet ride you may crave something better. I listened to my Alpine for 6 months before I needed more and did a full aftermarket upgrade. The Alpine is def nothing that you would want to go and tell your friends about but i would say its a decent full-sounding stock system. Some people say the SQ depends on which Nav unit you get, (430, 730, 130, etc) but i've only ever had it with the 730n. The infinity was better in my 2012.

37Olivestreetbrews FWIW I bought a new 2012 with base sound and connectivity. 1.5 years later I pulled the stock head unit for an aftermarket alpine and I am much happier even though I lost the voice commands (one of the few who thought it worked well). I still have steering wheel controls but now have DVD and nav for a fraction of the upgrade price that JEEP wants. Sound is impressive too.

Seems like lots of people are disappointed with the upgraded stereo. I'm finalizing my new '13 JKU order and am on the fence whether to get the Alpine system. I'm really naive when it comes to all this electronic stuff... So please excuse.

Thanks!
