Any comments on wind noise with these racks?
I've had yakima racks on my pickups before and the whistling noise just about drove me crazy.

|Sincualas||I was thinking aesthetics as well. Since I'm also planning on getting an Off Road Heroes Cargo Top, I think the Warrior Products Renegade Rack would look better with that than a full rack like the Gobi.|

I was all set on the Gobi Stealth rack, but in all honesty I don't think I will ever have a need for that much rack. I do think it is the best rack out there, but today (on the throne while looking at the Quadratec catalog, mind you) I came across the Warrior Products Renegade rack. This seems to be about perfect for what I will ever have a need for. Anybody have any experience with this rack?

I bought a used gobi rack off Craigslist and did have satellite radio reception issues. I replaced the antenna with a generic magnetic mount antenna you can get from best buy or a similar place. It was pretty straightforward, only pain in the butt part was pulling off interior plastic panels carefully.
The rack is great! I Have taken it off road and loaded it with surfboards and firewood to half of its rated weight and driven on the beach ( pretty bouncy) and it was solid as a rock. Highly recommend it if you can buy it used or if you have more disposable income than most :-)

I've heard good things about the Gobi Racks. The Garvin is what I was looking into but no one seems to have one yet.

|vmaek||I have the gobi stealth rack and absolutely love it. It is easy to fold back or take off. It's a couple years old and looks brand new. It hasn't interfered with the radio or nav but it is noisier with a soft top. With the quick disconnects, it is really easy to fold the soft top back.|

I did a write up on my Cargo Master rack elsewhere in the Forum. I was kinda half and half before this extended trip I'm on; good price, keeps the boats off the roof. We're now on our third week of a road trip and when we get back...calling Gobi. I had a chance to check out a Gobi Stealth in person while in Yosemite and it was much more stable than my CM. Mine rattles and "clicks" despite rubber bushings and Gorilla tape. According to driver with the Gobi rack... nothing; no rattles, no creaking. 1" vs 1.5" pipe really looks good and the fit and finish were obviously better than the CM. This is "pay once, cry once" territory and I should have followed my gut on this.
Biggest dilemma is what to do with the CM rack! No brainer otherwise.

Have you experienced any trouble with the satellite signal? Do you have a nav?

I run a gobi on my JKU..... Best rack in my opinion.

I'm interested in the Gobi roof rack for my Sahara. It attaches to existing bolts on the sides of the windshield and then to the frame underneath the back bumper. No drilling is required. One concern I've heard is that the rack basket can block the signal for the satellite radio and navigation antenna because they are positioned right beneath it on the roll bar.
I found this installation video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HklKyn27Go[/URL]
The video is pretty long, but shows the unpack aging, installation, and top removal. Gobi also offers some "quick release" bolts that make swinging the roof rack off for the third piece oft heard top to be removed much quicker.
I hope this helps! And if anyone has the gobi roof rack installed on their JKU, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the satellite issue. Thanks!

|n8jk2013||Yeah I like that one. I want one for a bikini top or hard top. Not sure if I can use it for soft top. Do you know? The gobi is the one I wanted from the start but a bit to drop on. Also will it work with a AEV snorkel?|

Check out the Gobi stealth rack.
It's no drill, 300 pound capacity, and you can remove the freedom panels with it on.
I put it on my 2012 JKUR and it's been awesome. I was really impressed with the quality, it's top notch.
This video helped in the decision as it goes through the whole install and good to know items: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HklKyn27Go

|Mostro750||I have a 2-door on order and am scouring Quadratec looking for a rack as well...a little harder to fit kayaks on the 2-door. Post an update when/if you get one!|

|n8jk2013||I have been looking around. I am still considering my own fabrication but would have work around snorkel system.....until I go that route I am always looking too. Body armor has a nice one for kayak s and optional basket. I really am leaning to the Gobi Ranger Safari rack. A bit pricey, but well worth the money with access to remove hard top and holds 300 lbs. There are others if you look on quadratec. Hope that helps a little.|

In search of a good roof rack system
After many years with a Xterra i recently bought my first Jeep - a 2013 wrangler Sahara unlimited 4 door... Love it! But I'd like to find a good roof rack system that does not require drilling, has a good basket and can support the weight of two kayaks plus small gear in the basket.... Ideally I'd like to be able to remove the freedom tops without taking off the rack and/or basket.....
Any thoughts on what is the best solution for this? Appreciate any recommendations you may have!
