I'm not sure why we don't see it used more often at least on paper the thing looks pretty awesome. I am officially looking for one.

|MaximumJed||Not sure what goes into it as the PO fitted it, but I've got a 242 in my '97 TJ 4.0. Works brilliantly. It's got a transfer case drop on it but I don't know if that was fitted to accommodate the lift or if it was necessary for the switch.|

Did you ever get anywhere with trying to figure this out?
I was looking through some magazines and read about the full time part time 4WD the 242 offered and was kind of interested in seeing if it could be done. It could be really useful in a DD and still maintain the fully locked 4Low gears for going and getting dirty. Interesting to say the least.

99 XJ NP242 into 04 TJ
Situation at hand is that recently my NP231 has been giving me issues and just today my brother rolled his XJ. Since he is parting it out I've been thinking about swapping t-cases.
Mine: 04 TJ auto 6cyl np231
Brother: 99 XJ auto 6cyl NP242
I've been doing some research and it looks like swapping out the the 242 and replacing it with a 231 is big for XJ's and it's easy. Which makes me assume it should be the same the other way around but I can't seem to find any write up or good info on swapping a 242 into a TJ.
Any help would be great!
