When you changed the oil the last time, was the light on?? I took our Jeep to the dealer for an oil change (yes I know....) before the light came on and low and behold, 350 miles later the light came on.
Took it back to them and ask what is going on and they said that if you change the oil before the light came on and reset it, the computer sometimes does not accept the reset.
Just a thought. They could have sold me some BS, but I did check the oil after they changed it and it was done.
PS Our jeep is a 2012 model and the light came on the first time at 3750 miles and I took it for the second change at 10 000 miles.

Check your oil. Is it at the same level as when you changed it? Does it look like new oil out of the bottle?
Unless there is something wrong with your Wrangler, you have been doing a great deal of off roading, let your Wrangler idle like a cop car for long periods of time, drag race it or use it as a taxi, there is no reason it should be changed at 2,000 miles.
DFW6ER is right. Send the oil to be tested if you are concerned. Otherwise it appears the oil monitoring program was not reset.

It factors a variety of variables into an algorithm which determines when your oil should be changed....it doesn't directly measure oil contaminants, nor does it go strictly by mileage. For instance, lots of steady RPM highway speeds for lengthy periods might not trip the light until close to 8,000 miles whereas frequent short trips and high RPM driving might trip it at 2,000 miles.
If you're really concerned, I'd suggest you contact Blackstone Labs for a free container and send an aliquot to them for a used oil analysis. IIRC it's $22 and it'll tell you w/ 100% certainty how your oil is holding up.

|DFW6ER||I guess if you did a lot of stop and go and high rpm driving the computer could think you need to change the oil. But, even if you're using a modern dino oil, you can easily go 3,000 miles before needing to change the oil. I'm going with 6,000 mile OCIs with PP personally.|

|285 HP||Someone did not reset it last oil change...key on not running 3 slow full throttle pumps and you are reset.|

|DFW6ER||Did you reset the oil change alarm after the last oil change? What kind of driving have you been doing over the past 2000 miles?|

??? Seems a bit soon for her to want new oil. Should I let it go to where I was going to. Or change it now?
