NJK As of right now I am running 33x12.5x15 Wrangler Duratracs on 15x8 Pro Comp rims with 3.75" bs on my 98 TJ. I don"t have a lift yet and i dont rub at all. This weekend I'm ordering a Rough Country 3.25" Suspension Lift thought. It should ride pretty nicely

I just bought a set of 32s for my jeep (2.5 in. BB) and I can tell you that the selection is slim. I looked for about a month before purchasing and they're are definitely A LOT more options in 33. But I'm happy with my choice.

fpd226 Thanks for the advice Rez. I'm really going back and forth on that very issue. Does anybody know the real difference between 32s and 33s. (other than the obvious please) referring to availability of the same kind of tires, what is the actual height of a 32", etc.
And no, I haven't purchased the tires and rims yet.

Reznor Have you purchased your tires yet? Personally, I think if you're not planning on offroading that 33's might just be a bit too big for highway use and stock gears. 3" is also the bare minimum for 33's offroad (on-road you should be fine). I'd almost suggest 32's.

thgr8alex Youll like the zone, pretty basic install and rides great. Looks great too! Ive had mine on for a month or two now and absolutely love it. And I got mine from allen as well

fpd226 Went with the Zone 3" but swapped out some parts on it. Added an alignment cam kit, steering stabilizer and an adjustable track bar. I looked at OME but couldn't find anything bigger than a 2.5" kit. I'm fairly new to the Jeep community and may have made a mistake not looking harder but all the posts I'm reading and the people I have chatted with, all had good things to say about the Zone. I have to say that most of the people of these forums are helpful. Not only that, but pretty nice to a newb like me. That sure helps.

PStov98TJ I'd stay away from RC if you want a nice ride. Check out DPG Offroad. They sell OME products there. I got the Ultimate kit from them (info on it is in my sig). And Dirk (the owner who you call personally to order the lift) will set you up with the spring rates you need for your application. He really knows what he's doing. I did a year of research and decided on this lift. It's a good way to get high quality stuff without totally crushing your wallet.

fpd226 Talked to Allen at Allen's Off Road Shop and glad I did. I thought he was very imformative and definitely has some great pricing to go along with. Ordered my lift yesterday and would recommend him to anybody with questions or looking to make a purchase. Thanks Allen.

fpd226 Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. There are just so many out there, it makes it hard to even pick a starting point. I was actually looking up the OME, Skyjacker, and Zone kits while waiting on replies. And no sweat KD, no chrome will ever rub against this baby!!!

That's fine for 33's.
If your looking for something that actually rides well, look at Old Man Emu (OME)

You seem to be looking for about the same as what I was looking for when I got my tj. Something that you could drive every day and not have the crappy back braking ride that usually goes with lifting it. After about a year of searching for the perfect lift for me. (My goal was also 33's) I found that the DPG ultimate OME kit is the right way to go. You will find many on the forum who agree.
This kit rides like an absolute dream. Much better than stock.
This kit is a do it once, do it right type of kit. Call dirk from DPGoffroad.com and you will be thrilled with your kit.

I did however end up going with 32's because it was cheap to find practically new JK Rubicon wheels and tires sense they all want to go bigger. These are realistically about 2/3 of an inch short of 33's.

kdilly You should be fine then. I'm sure others will chime in, but my setup has done well for me over the past year I've had it, and it's my DD. As long as you're not planning on doing anything too extreme, you should be fine with whatever axles you have and 33's, especially if you have the D44 in the rear. If you're planning on wheeling w/o other vehicles, a winch may also be a good idea along with a hi-lift jack. Just remember it's your jeep and you may do with it what you please! As long as there's no chrome or tube bumpers!

kdilly Ive got a 2.5" Skyjacker suspension lift and it clears 33's nicely with pretty good on road manners. Is it a 4 or 6 cylinder? I have stock gears in my 4.0L (that will be my next major upgrade) and going up hills requires a downshift, but I don't take mine on the highway often enough to make it an immediate upgrade. Also the 2.5" lift should save you the trouble of having to mess with an SYE/MML/T-case drop. Here's some pics.

Starting from stock questions

Getting an '04 Wrangler this week and, other than the tires and wheels, it's pretty much stock. I'm looking for some help on deciding on what to go with.
I want a big enough lift that I can run 33" tires on it. The Jeep will mainly be a way for the wife and I to take the top off and get away from the kids for the weekend. That being said, I would like to keep handling and the ride as nice as possible cuz I know she will want to drive it too.
I don't have a unlimited budget here but I understand that you get what you pay for.
Any suggestions out there that won't break the bank?
